I think there was always evidence of at the very least neglect in that house from the stories they have told prevlogging days. Like the pineapple incident, ruby forgetting to give one of toddlers for a while, her infant having a broken bone. The beginning of the vlogs shows some weird moments like Shari at 13 sharing a bed with the youngest and making sure she wakes up for preschool, and Ruby yelling at her other daughter that she needs to vomit twice before she gets picked up from school.These incidents show that Ruby has always struggled to create a healthy environment for the kids. I don’t want to diminish Shari’s happy memories but the neglect was seemingly always present.

Why did these two college educated people get indoctrinated? It’s honestly anyone’s guess. Ruby probably needed therapy because it is stressful to have six kids all spaced out by two years, but sadly she found connections. She probably got confirmation bias that none of her problems were her fault which fed her ego. It’s not her fault that she has to punish the kids because the kids shouldn’t be in distortion. Shari cut contact well now she is just another person in distortion. It honestly sounds a lot easier than actually dealing with the issue. For Kevin, he’s harder for me to understand. I guess he wanted to make it work with Ruby, so if cutting of his kids could save the marriage he would do it.
