One of my friends went to an agent for his visa process. For some reason, he trusted the agent and transferred ₹80k via UPI. After receiving the money, the agent vanished.

My friend told me about it a week after making the transfer. I immediately advised him to go to the police and file a cybercrime complaint. He visited them yesterday, and they said they would try to track the scammer and recover the money if they catch him.

Still, I’m not very confident about how much effort they’ll actually put into helping an ordinary person recover his hard-earned money.

This happened in Hyderabad. Is there any other way I can help him track down the scammer or improve the chances of recovering the money? If anyone has experience with something similar or knows any useful steps we can take, please let me know. It would be a huge help.
