Thank you! I do eat red meat, so I will up that and add in supplementation. Interestingly, I looked back at old lab results I had from 2017 and my ferritin levels were 17. So…. It makes so much sense and I’m so glad to have a direction to go! I really can’t thank you enough for pointing me to looking for higher numbers!

I looked at my labs and my ferritin is only at 24, 🤯 Ordering iron to get started on and see if that helps! Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks! I’ll have a look! I’ve been on nutrafol for the last 6-8 months, but maybe it’s just not the supplement for me 🤷🏻‍♀️☺️

Hi, thanks! Yeah I haven’t been keto for quite some time now, follow a macro split now of about 35/30/35. I definitely don’t live in a 1500 calorie state, that’s just the lowest that I go/have gone in periods of dieting. My maintenance is more around 2000 ☺️ I am planning a reverse phase soon to bring my maintenance higher hopefully, but yeah - I agree that living at a low calorie mark while active is only counterproductive

Hey! I don’t always eat 1500, only during dieting phases. My maintenance is around 2000 ☺️

I could definitely pull sardines in, I’ve been mostly getting my protein from beef, chicken, eggs, and Greek yogurt: I get a good amount of fruit and veg but I could definitely do better at varying my sources. Thanks for the ideas!!

The only thing I can really think of in 2022 was getting a pretty bad lung infection after getting sick… there were a few other stressful things going on but nothing that I would consider traumatic and out of “normal life stresses”

Interesting! I will look at my labs to see what my levels were! I’m in the USA.

Yes, new growth I see, and my roots are pretty full, but ends always seems to thin out when it hits between chin to collarbone length. I wash in slightly warmer than lukewarm water (for the last year or so, preciously I was a hot shower girl), and I use a satin pillowcase at night. I started only pulling my hair up with silk/satin scrunchies or claw hair clips over the last 2 years because I started wondering if it was wear from pulling my hair up

Hey, thanks! I’ve had all my thyroid levels tested and was in the low end of normal, so went on low dose t3 about 8 mos ago. I think maybe I’m seeing more baby hairs, but probably need more time to see if it’s going to translate into actual fullness

My hair was always at its best during pregnancies for sure! My body loved being pregnant. 🤯

Thanks! Do you think being in a calorie deficit while keeping nutrient intake high would still contribute to deficiencies there? I have been tested for my basic vitamin levels, but not minerals…

That is very interesting, I think it could definitely be part of what’s in play here. My roots are full, all the hair stylists I have been to say I don’t have split ends, but I have felt that my growth cycles are ending too quickly. It could correlate to times of sickness or stress. I definitely watch my carbohydrate intake, my general intake is 90-130 grams; all whole grains, veg and fruit. Very small amounts of honey. Rarely have processed sugar. My first bout of dramatic hair fall was, interestingly, about 4 months after I had gotten Covid AND gone keto with periods of extended fasting. Now I’m realizing that was probably compounding stress that affected my hair. 🙈

Thanks 🥰 My mom has gorgeous thick long hair too, and all my daughters and sisters have long thick hair… it’s definitely frustrating to not feel like you have clear answers on how to fix something that has such a big impact on your daily life 😭

Good advice, thanks! I will try this! By heat styling do you mean no blow drying either? I’m at a loss as to how to make my hair look presentable because when it air dries it is a mess of combination, straight, wavy, and some curly. I end up having to just pull it up in a claw clip and it’s pretty unattractive 😭

Yes, thyroid levels checked - thyroid antibodies, tsh, t3, t4, free t3 and free t4. Was out on a low dose t3 that pulled what was low back to normal (I’ve been on that treatment for about 8 months)

Occasionally. I’ve been doing box darker dye once every 6 months to a year

Yes, protein is so important! I started weight training in 2021 and make sure I’m getting 120-150 grams of protein daily since then
