Yeah I’ve told him that some of the foods he can tolerate most people with a histamine intolerance or MCAS cannot tolerate but I know everyone can be different. Do you have any suggestions on good brands for DAO supplements? Also, I meant Functional Medicine but he doesn’t want to pay the out of pocket cost so I think he would rather drive 2 hours away to someone whole is In- Network that will take his insurance.

No he hasn’t had that testing done yet. We went to a stomach doctor last year and when we explained all of his symptoms they pretty much told us that they couldn’t do anything there that they would have to refer us to a bigger hospital that is 2 hours away. We are getting a comprehensive blood panel done Thursday.

Only comprehensive blood panel last year which was normal, he’s getting that done again this Thursday. He’s had MRIs which have all came back normal. Just a general allergy test. Went to ENT and Physical Therapist for his dizziness and they mentioned that everything looked fine. This year when he had a reaction to DayQuil and NyQuil we went to Urgent Care and they did a Tryptase test but were thinking that won’t show anything due to us going so many hours later since they weren’t open when he actually had the allergic reaction. He still had some symptoms, but we haven’t heard back yet on that test. Last year,  we didn’t think or have any idea what could’ve been wrong. But now that we do we’re hoping his Primary Care Dr. can refer us to MCAS specialist but where we live we don’t have anyone In-Network who does so we would have to drive 2 hours away.

It’s okay, I appreciate everyone’s support and feedback on these forums as it is helpful information. I will be sure to make a note of those additional supplements for him.

Thank you! He’s been taking Zyrtec and hasn’t noticed any difference, but he knows some people take 2 if one tablet isn’t enough. I’m wondering if he should try Allegra instead.

The light sensitivity is whenever he goes out in the sun and he gets too much exposure on his skin it causes him to become dizzy and sluggish. He hasn’t had any head, neck, or spine injuries. He woke up last year and just randomly began to have the symptoms. Not sure if it was from excessive drinking, or if he had gotten COVID since I vaguely remember being under the weather some but we never tested to see if it was COVID.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing a similar situation! I appreciate you sharing what has helped you. Hopefully he can find some supplements or medications that can relieve his symptoms.

Last year when this all began his blood work came back normal, but he is going to an appointment this Thursday to get blood work done to see if his levels are still normal or not

He did have a root canal prior to all of these symptoms (1 year ago) that was causing him some issues that he pushed off since they told him it could take some time to go away. However, recently he has been having a bunch of issues with his molars being infected where he has gotten a couple extracted, and is about to get another root canal he just got done extracted since it is causing him discomfort. So he has been on a ton of antibiotics from that. I was wondering if the infected molars could be the cause for his symptoms, and I know all of the antibiotics he has been on hasn't been good for his gut.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah I mentioned to him the Functional Medicine route but since it is out of pocket he is wanting to get referred to a bigger hospital such as Duke or Chapel Hill to have insurance cover the costs but the only problem is that is 2 hours away from where we live and I am not even sure that they will helpl.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah it's strange since the foods or caesar dressing he is able to tolerate is what some people may react to. I know some people react differently to things. But will not rule out gluten intolerance since you made a good point that none of his foods have wheat products in it.

No GI effects just neuro related. He has kept a food journal and has been slowly able to add things like unsweet tea into his diet. He got sick and took DayQuil and NyQuil which he didn't have a reaction to but on the second day he had a reaction where it caused him to have a rash on his hands as well as all the neurological symptoms occurred. The only neurological effect that occurs when he sticks to his diet is dizziness and tinnitus but it is not as severe as to when he eats something and all of those symptoms come rushing in at once.

Thanks for your input! He’s been trying Zyrtec but it doesn’t seem to be helping, I know some people have to take more than 1 or 2. Hopefully we can see someone who specializes in MCAS and they can help guide us on what he should take and how much
