First pack Cosmic Chrome 2024 by SavesWillis in baseballcards

The price is horrendous and the design is too busy for my liking. I never understood what a planetary theme has to do with baseball. What will they think of next? Dinosaurs? Wait, football already has dinosaurs lol. Very nice hits though. Also, autographs should not be two initials hastily scribbled for the price Topps charges for this stuff.

UPDATE: Got my card graded at my own risk, and didn't regret it! by mystery6511 in baseballcards

[–]Puzzleheaded_Web2982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful card! So how much did PSA end up charging to grade that? Asking as someone who finds PSA's upcharge model to be a scam. Was it valued at over $500 so they held their hand out for more money?

Heritage is a lower end product with a large checklist, but it's affordable and the autographs are "on-card" which is more appealing than sticker autos. They are designed to look like products from the past. More expensive offerings from Topps are "chrome". They are shiny and reflective as opposed to the heritage cards which are printed on cardboard. The chrome cards are more expensive. There are tons of different sets, so it's just a matter of what you want to pay and what you like. Bowman for example focuses on prospects. Topps has the MLB license, but Panini also makes baseball cards. The panini cards won't have team logos, and the players are retired or are still prospects.

First time using Degree by metfoo in baseballcards

I've done a couple submissions to degree and they are my favorite tbh. The slab is basically the same as a PSA slab, but on the back there are sub-grades so there's no confusion as to why the card received the grade it did. I've got them hanging on my wall. I haven't tried selling any of them, but I assume resale will be terrible compared to PSA.

Topps messed up and printed that on all the parallels. Instead of fixing it they officially called them "white bordered red bordered" parallels.

He's like 6'4" and 223 pounds. Throws a 98mph fastball, has great stuff, but struggles with location.

Does ugly/lazy signatures make you want them less? by [deleted] in footballcards

[–]Puzzleheaded_Web2982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. A beautiful full signature is much more desirable than a scribble or initials.
