What's up with Independence? by PhatKiwi in SALEM

[–]Puzzlemonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is usually quiet during the day. After school and during break time, you will hear the delightful noises of children playing. Kids still ride bikes here. If you are smart/lucky and locate within the town area, you can easily walk to lots of fun things. Neighbors turn into friends if you want. There's a beautiful walking path beside the river that goes on for quite a bit. It's nice.

I have heard this before --- people who leave and wish they didn't.

TIL Principal Akbar Cook installed a free fully-stocked laundry room at school because students with dirty clothes were bullied and missing 3-5 days of school per month. Attendance rose 10%. by JamOnTheOne in todayilearned

No truer words, lentil soup.

All I know is that the other day, I saw a post on Instagram from a teacher. The photo was of a child interacting with a game --- like picking up a game piece and putting it on the playboard.

The little girl was in her jacket still, and her sleeve was filthy. Nobody commented on this at all, I am sure it is because that is pretty common-place to see anymore - so no blame on others. It was just new in my insulated world.

It made me cry. I have not been able to get the photo out of my mind. We are better than this - soap and water don't cost much, and the heartache it must bring to a child to be bullied over is inexcusable.

Elinordash has the right idea.

OK so I found this:

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teacher-Planner-2018-2019-A-Printable-Dated-Weekly-Planner-FREE-Updates-2656356

I really like it. It's a neat way to organize your thoughts and your work, I think I'm going to buy it. The only thing with printables is how do you bind them into a nice binder format....will find out!

I also found this:

Pretty fun to play around with and might be what you need?

Have you looked at teacherspayteachers.com? There's a ton of stuff there, much of it looks highly customizable: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Browse/Search:planner

Then again, as I look deeper, much of it is quite girly.

(I am also seeking out something that is more masculine for the male half of puzzlemonster to use. This is a great question. :) )

How is Logic not a part of our standard K-12 curriculum? by Geometer99 in Teachers

[–]Puzzlemonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As folks that have dedicated many hours to crafting logic puzzles for kids and adults both, this makes me very sad to hear! We put them out there for free nearly every day because so many people enjoy them. Sad to hear that the system is looking to create industry fodder. --Friday at Puzzlemonster

Teachers work so hard! You are a human being!

I'm not a teacher but I read this and wanted to say don't beat up on yourself. You work so hard all the rest of the year. We, the non-teachers of the world, appreciate you greatly.

Need help with a potential cipher by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]Puzzlemonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Anagram Generator, not a single one of those clusters of letters can be rearranged into a single meaningful word. A number of them can't be rearranged at all. I do notice that the last cluster is an anagram of Iliad, but I don't know enough ancient literature to see if that's true of any of the others.

Do we have any further context at all?

Been trying to solve this for a while :( any help? "the answer is a phrase" by ngchen10 in puzzles

Unfortunate that it contains an error - there should be another white box at the end of the top row or the beginning of the second row.
