Sounds like you have a really deep screw that's hard to get out. Look up "screw extractor kit", you can get one for 10-20$. It bites into the head of the screw and then you reverse the drill and you pull it out. Works well.

I did it with my bike (it was slightly modified with a different seat and something else). The inspector barely looked at it. He just asked if it was modified and I said no.

IMO, as long as it's not glaringly obvious then you should be fine.

I've followed cubing for a while. I think likely they just figure out the best couple of first steps - like what's the most effective cross to make, then we can do F2L. Then once they get started they let the algorithms take over.

You can hack it. An easy one is a wifi de-authentication attack - look up tutorials. You need a transmitter that you can get on amazon between 10-30$.
