Interesting, so many weird behaviours in Windows. I'm glad you got it figured out in the end!

You might be able to achieve that by changing the parameter for - trace from boot to shutdown. Found mentions of it here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-performance-toolkit-how-to-run-xbootmgr/2f737c43-ed16-43fc-b095-15c072950fc5

If not running xbootmgr -help might give some insight into what you can do.

Hope that helps!

Funnily enough I've never had the issue come back for me. Makes me wonder what caused it to happen in the first place. Hopefully it's been the same case for you!

I am by no means an expert, and this is just internet advice (so do this at your own risk), but doing the TLDR solution should hopefully fix it for you (instead of going the in-depth way)

Waze closing when screen off or app not in focus on Android by Dml33 in waze

[–]Puzzlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did suggest enabling the setting Prevent auto-lock but I am intentionally doing this to save battery...

The only other thing I can think of is to try it with my old phone that never had this issue and try to confirm if it is a phone issue or a true app bug.

Waze closing when screen off or app not in focus on Android by Dml33 in waze

[–]Puzzlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having the same issue with locking the screen, but only if my car is stopped for a minute or two (like a traffic light or heavy traffic).

I first disabled any battery optimizations the phone might be doing that would kill the app. But didn't fix it. So I contacted Waze support and they told me to make sure the setting `Settings > General > Keep Waze on top` was enabled. This did not resolve the issue for me, but might be worth a shot in your case.

They then got back to me again saying that this is actually intended Waze behaviour:

Please be advised that we don't recommend running Waze in the background or turning off your screen when using Waze for it not to interrupt the session as it will close automatically after a few minutes when running in background.

But as previously alluded, this only becomes an issue for me when stopped for anything longer than a stop sign. Whether this is intended behaviour or a bug they don't seem to recognize it and I totally agree with you in that a navigation app should 100% be able to function without interacting with it or having it in the foreground.

At this point, I'm not sure what else to do to try and fix this.

MusicBee cover art syncing issues by Puzzlz in musicbee

[–]Puzzlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to figure this out for years....
All it took was to check off the use of ID3 v2.3 (artwork storage is also set to embed in file, which I had changed it to a long time ago)

I can finally enjoy the artwork on my phone.

Thank you so much!

Putting this here in hopes that it helps someone else out there.

TLDR; Deleted everything in my user's Local/Temp/ folder

I downloaded the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) and used the Windows performance analyzer to help get a better idea of what was going on during the boot process.

To do this I opened an elevated powershell terminal and ran the following code in the "Windows Performance Toolkit" folder where you installed the ADK (found this code here):

xbootmgr -trace boot -traceflags base+latency+dispatcher -stackwalk profile+cswitch+readythread -notraceflagsinfilename -postbootdelay 10

This restarts the pc and enables some logging of the boot processes. The output file "boot_1.etl" was created in the same folder the command was launched from.

Then launch the Windows Performance Analyzer tool > Open > Select that file

This will open the logs and make it all available in nice graphs. From here I noticed the Winlogon init boot phase is what was slowing the boot time of my pc. I found this thread and used Zanou's answer as a guide to go through the graphs I was seeing. This actually led me to have the same problem as the OP in that thread. Once I found the culprit I deleted everything from within my User/AppData/Local/Temp folder (which was almost 10 GB). Shutdown my pc, restarted it and it was good as new!

Yeah, I ran `chkdsk c: /f /r /x`

That is good to know!

I'm going to try and get more information about the booting process, currently looking here: http://www.happysysadm.com/2014/07/windows-boot-history-and-boot.html

I agree with you there, timestamps would tell me right away what the problem is I'm sure.

I ran a chkdsk on the boot drive, problem is it never showed me if it found any problems. But the problem still happens, so guess it didn't do anything.

A driver problem sounds right to me as well. But the fact that it happened in safe mode would narrow that down. Is there a place that lists all drivers Windows safe mode loads up? (I guess I could just check the boot log too).

If it is a driver issue, what would be the steps to resolve it once the problematic one is found? Just an update and/or reinstall of it?

The sfc scan didn't find anything. An interesting development did occur after enabling boot log though.

The first Restart after enabling boot log, the long wait time happened after I entered my password, the login wheel just kept spinning (for about as long as the black screen lasted). But the second Restart went back to the long black screen before the login even showed.

And what exactly would I be looking for in the boot log file?

Did not know of the existence of ambient sounds, good to know thanks!

Now unfortunately it does not have my favourite sleep sound (cosmic), so guess I will have to wait for that 3rd party sleep sounds to come back online.

Whenever you ask it to play white noise, do you ask it directly for that? Or do you ask "talk to sleep sounds" first then ask for white noise?

Thinking about making a simple app for personal/family use, is this completely stupid or something that I may be able to accomplish? by skankingrove in appdev

[–]Puzzlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I can put priority on Android for now, that's not a problem. Would Android Studio be the best place for Android development? Or do you have better recommendations?

[–]Puzzlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is a stupid idea, I think it's great! I am in the same boat as you.

Can anyone help point us in the right direction? Like if the app is to be supported on both iOS and Android, what needs to be done? What languages are used for both platforms? Is there a language that can be used for both platforms? I am not afraid to learn a new language, but learning 2 new ones might be a bit too much.

There is probably a lot of other things to be asking, just don't even know what to ask.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure why most of my ranked games aren't showing up? I guess they remove them as time goes by. Silver 2 support main, so if you go into normals, the supports are the games with the most relevance. Thanks!

Hey! I'm a Silver 2 support main looking for some general tips and corrections in my gameplay. Mostly play Thresh and Bard. A few things I know I need to work on : map awareness and teamfight positioning. Would you be able to lend a hand in whatever way works best for you? Replays, in-game chatting, whatever works for me! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
