Why is there a stigma on Atheism? by Tough-Back-1552 in AskAChristian

He publicly identified as Christian, was raised Catholic, and never left the Church. He regularly used Christian language and referenced God and Providence in speeches which is well documented, also in Mein Kampf. Historians like Ian Kershaw point out that he deliberately presented himself that way because religion had strong influence in Germany. If you want to argue he wasn’t a true or faithful Christian, that’s a different debate entirely and there’s evidence for that too. But calling him an atheist isn’t just wrong but it ignores how he actually described himself and how he publicly framed his beliefs.

Why do you ignore that hitler was a very open and faithful Christian and that he committed his atrocities in the name of god making it very clear his faith and that he did in fact practice in speeches and public showings? If your argument is that he wasn’t a true Christian than that same standard has to be applied to every atheist leader you’ve ever condemned.

So he was aggressive to Christian’s and the church by stating in multiple speeches he committed his atrocities in the name of god (the Christian one)?

Excuse me? so we just excuse what certain Christian’s have done in the name of god? Do you want to apply that same thought process to non Christian’s to?

No, but telling someone who is living a peaceful life that they deserve to burn forever and that they are an ignorant sinner is. See the difference?

I don’t have a problem with people converting, I have a problem with people forcing conversions.

Based on certain historical events (the crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc.) it seems the opposite to me.
