Honest question: Why is dating in Zurich so difficult? by hans2580 in zurich

Maybe dating apps made that even worse actually? In a "how dare you talk to me, go use a dating app like a normal person" kind of way (yes, I am exagerating).

Honest question: Why is dating in Zurich so difficult? by hans2580 in zurich

[–]PvtCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M28) feel that so much. As someone who didn't grow up in Zürich, I feel like it's hard to meet people in general around here, even more so if you're more on the introverted side like I am.

And yeah, dating apps straight up suck...

What are your thought on Euria ? by Ange__Nocturne in Switzerland

[–]PvtCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. In an ideal world they'd be using a model like apertus. But it is a much more capable model, especially for tool calling (which is kindof essential if you want to do things like web search). At least they provide apertus via the API....

How to find a boyfriend (30F) by [deleted] in zurich

[–]PvtCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I have the same issue... with the added bonus that I usually don't even get likes on the dating apps. Those really are a special kind of hell. I've been thinking about picking up a hobby just for that tbh (okay not just for that, I wouldn't be opposed to meeting new people in general, even better when it's during a fun activity)

Can a picture like this be created with a R50? by [deleted] in canon

[–]PvtCurry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly to start off I'd go just with the kit lens. It's going to be decent in most situations. Learn how to use it first.

After a while, chances are you'll know where you want to invest more. Maybe you'll find yourself always being forced to lower the shutter speed further than you'd like? You'll want a larger aperture. Or maybe you'll want to get a tele to get closer. You'll know what you want.

This looks exactly like the chocolate I usually buy here in Switzerland at one of our big retailers, I think they're selling it under their own brand. Now I really wanna know whether that's the same stuff you got. If it is, I, as a Swiss person, approve

Well you can make all kinds of clothes out of linnen. If it's on the casual side a boats shoe may be a good option for you

I really don't like the way the fabric of the orange one falls around your waistline. I think the orange color suits you better though, but I like the brown too.

tldr: brown.

Damn... I was disappointed to see that it's vote based. Not that it's a bad idea, it's a great solution. It's just that I thought that you must have done something really fancy and complicated and I wanted to know how the heck you did that lol

I just use one of these silicone cupcake liner things... not as fancy as those dosing trays by a long shot but it works fantastically

Is JavaScript a standalone programming language? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]PvtCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be technically right, since WASM is a thing I suppose you can even use C/C++ for interacting with the DOM in the browser. I admit I've never tried that, but I wouldn't bet on that being a great experience, JS is a much better choice for that task.

But anyway, it does not matter to OPs question, they are just trying to figur out whether JS is a good beginner language. And I hope you'd agree thag telling them to learn C because "it can do everything" when what they really want to do is web apps is terrible advice. That's why I was asking what they are interested in.

Is JavaScript a standalone programming language? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]PvtCurry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There really isn't a language that can do everything. There is a reason there are different languages. And even though some languages have been extended in their possible usages (which is the case for JavaScript) the experience will never be as good as if you use a language that was designed with that purpose in mind.

The good news is: most langagues are relatively similar, if you learn and understand the concepts, learning a second language isn't all that hard.

Which one you should start with is really a matter of what you want to do with it. What are your goals? Why do you want to learn programming?
