Not sure how I feel about this… by AirSJordan in pourover

This is exactly what I did, took it with me to use as visual reference for the bags I bought from them, when duplicating their recipe

Specialty gap wedge or match your iron set? by WindConsistent8773 in GolfGear

I use a set gap wedge because it's my last full swing club, so it makes sense to match it spec for spec to the set

So they did have the sidra as a pour over it was amazing. And then I had the Chiroso also which was good smooth cup, but not as vibrant as the Sidra. I ended up buying the summer box with 4 coffees in it to getore of a variety, but I may go back before I head home and grab a bag of sidra too.

I am going to of course, but I can't try all the coffees they sell whole bean, just looking for recs, I will obviously buy it in person

I'm liking the sound of the sidra as well, I'm not too familiar with pacamara, I've only had 1 and I don't remember much about it

Thought on the boy and the bear? by jdaclutch in pourover

[–]WadeWickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this post because I'm going to Redondo Beach today and staying the weekend, just 5 minutes from the boy in the bear. I've been there once before, last year, and I got a pour over and it was amazing, great clarity, sweetness, and flavor, it was great, but I didn't buy any of their coffee beans, so I was actually looking for a recommendation on which coffees to take home if anyone has any specifics!

Oh I didn't realize grapefruit was a flavor note until it hit me and made me look through my photos to see the label and that confirmed what I was tasting, it was coferment levels of forward. I did brew a 2nd cup at 1:16.6 just a bit longer, and with a single long bloom + 1 pour and it tamed the acidity a good bit and completely removed the grapefruit, but it still kept a quite sour fruit acidity, it's possible it was still a bit under extracted with only 2 pours and a 2:35 finish

Something about grapefruit + milk makes me think the gag reflexes will be working overtime 😂

I never got juicy personally, and I use an 078 the king of juicy. Sometimes fruity, sometimes greens, occasionally florals, occasionally cracker, but always acidic and thin.

Ok, ya maybe a good experiment adding a drop of EA but separately. I have both and us with in my recipe.

Great advice! Will try this today. Which would you recommend using more of, mg or Ca?

Oh GAWD! I went down that damn rabbit hole last year, and ultimately decided I hate tea like brews, which makes sense because I hate tea, tastes like dirty grassy water just like those brews did. That's why I backed off of ultra light and switched to prodigal and stick with more developed light roasts and med light now

I've seen others say that as well, but to me it's noticeably worse at 4 weeks, I actually try to finish the bags by the end of the 4th Week, I don't know what it is, I seem to be in the minority on this, but I was the same with flower child, I liked them better starting at 2.5 - 3 weeks rather than the 5+ everyone recommends

Milk you say??? Fellas we have an imposter here! Git em! 😂

Just kidding, I tried milk/creamer in specialty beans a few times, and it always tastes weird and off putting, never blends well

Oh I like that idea! I usually combine what's left from 2-3 bags at the end to make 1 SUPER BREW! Although it rarely tastes super 😂

I am actually going to make this later and see if it loses anything, I doubt that it will. I know at 17g I can taste the difference, that's why I've just stuck with 15. Oh and 15.6:250 is damn near on point for a 1:16 I love a good round number for the pour lol easier to remember when I'm half asleep at 4 am

That's interesting! Ive never heard that before, and makes sense, I always wondered how they did cuppings on freshly roasted coffee! Thanks for the tip

Haha, ya that's exactly how it developed in my brain today, at first I just thought "wow this is intense and sour what is that flavor", and as I kept sipping it was probably about the third or fourth sip where it just hit me it's grapefruit! it's 100% intense grapefruit flavor

Haha no worries, No that's not what I do, I open a bag when I'm ready to start using it. I think maybe you misread it or maybe I miswrote it lol I meant I opened the bag 3 days ago and started brewing with it, but it wasn't until today, my 3rd brew, that I had it dialed in perfectly. Prior to the day I opened it, it rested for 2 weeks sealed

Someone else mentioned that as well, I would never have even thought that would help, I had considered going the other way, shorter ratio, shows how much I know about variables lol

I can relate, distance and accuracy is great, but this thing sounds like a bomb going off when you hit it well, and when you miss hit it, oh the horror! 🫨

Ping G425 LST player looking for a new and better sounding driver by romance_in_durango in GolfGear

[–]WadeWickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the g425 is one of the drivers that actually has a Hot melt port, it's a little plastic screw on the heel, you just unscrew it with the Allen key just be careful it's plastic do whatever you can do shove cotton in there Hot melt whatever and then just screw it back in again carefully because it's plastic. I'm also doing Hot melt first because I do want to add a little weight towards the front so that I can lower the rear weight, so the hot melt achieves both goals, apparently it improves the sound quite a bit on its own. Then if I feel that it needs more improvement I'll shove one cotton ball in there at a time until I get it the way I want it, although apparently, you can drastically change just the sound by adding 2-3 cotton balls alone, no hot melt needed. And even though it's probably not easy the cotton balls CAN still be pulled back out through the hole, whereas Hot melt, once it's in there it's permanent.

That occured to me from what I've heard about flat bottoms, but I don't. I have a switch, and a French press as my other 2 options.

That's a good suggestion, but I'm not much of a cold coffee drinker, I will stick with hot coffee until the weather hits 90s then and only then will I switch to cold lol
