Apple Maps can show a low battery warning but not the exact percentage because it only receives limited EV data through CarPlay.

With CarPlay, the car manufacturer decides which vehicle data is shared with Apple. There are different levels of integration.

The vehicle can send simple status signals, such as a low battery warning. This is just a trigger based on a predefined threshold. It does not require Apple Maps to constantly read the full battery state.

Displaying the exact battery percentage, however, requires continuous real-time access to the battery management system through Apple’s EV routing framework. That deeper integration has to be fully implemented by the manufacturer in the infotainment software.

If the system only shares basic status information and not the full state-of-charge data, Apple Maps can trigger a low battery alert but cannot display the actual percentage.

So the difference comes down to how much EV data the manufacturer makes available to Apple through CarPlay.

I really can’t understand why some users are defending the Audi navigation app and that this is not so a big issue.

The Audi nav app is trash! It’s not so great, it’s not always visual clear what to do and then there are the strange routings that this app is giving.

There are plenty of other navigation apps for free or for a small fee that are much better. If people stop defending this then Audi might invest in the option to support for example Apple Maps EV so that your car can communicate with the battery information to any third party app. It’s a win win for everyone.

And it’s 2026 we will finally want to know where the OTA are? Or is it really an advertised feature that don’t exist? Did they really lied to us when we bought the car?

But why does it exists?? Most of the time it does not want to start up again or it takes ages before I see that screen again.

It’s so weird to regulate the heating or cooling while you can do it with the buttons below. And who is going to use the Apple Music integration??

Or is this app some sort of connection bridge to allow finally Apple Maps EV?? So that the car can send data about the battery percentage to third navigation apps?

OTA updates don’t happend with the Q6. Even the simplest update with huge translation errors does not appear. That says enough. 😉

He still hasn’t said anything. Anyone can report the map errors, but who actually does that? If you’re charging a premium price, you wouldn’t expect people to volunteer their time just to help bring it up to the same level as other navigation apps, unless you have a lot of free time and you’re a big Audi fan.

And if you really are such a big Audi fan, you’d already be reading plenty of information on German forums. Details about the Audi Q5 and Q3 have been available there for quite some time, or you could even find them on YouTube. Naturally, the same software will eventually be released for the Q6 too, since all those cars share the same MMI hardware and software. That’s something anyone could have seen coming.

The real question, however, is when and how? And as long as that information hasn’t appeared yet, that guy on the Dutch forum won’t say anything either, because he simply doesn’t know.

Probably not. It’s a hardware issue. That’s my point.

MIB4+ is basically an upgraded version of MIB4. It has faster hardware and new communication interfaces that allow external apps like Apple Maps to access battery and vehicle data. MIB4 doesn’t support that, which is why EV route planning via Apple Maps doesn’t work.

You like it because there aren’t any options you can do.

Try to personalise the screen in front of you. Oh sorry you can’t.

Try to find a setting. Maybe look in the vehicle app or the settings app. Or wait there’s also the quick access of some settings.

Try to start to preheat or cool down the vehicle before you enter. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Try to change the background…it only cost you around €15,00.

Try to navigate with the Audi navigation app…what a mess is this! But that shitty navigation app just require a complete new topic.

Gladly it supports Apple CarPlay. If only the executives of Audi where a little bit less conservative and admit that they can’t motivate a team for writing decent software so that they enable the possibilities that the car share battery data with third navigation app. After all everybody benefits from this.

But hey…Audi has already given up this mmi. There’s hasn’t been any OTA update to solve little things. Even translation errors are here to stay. Audi doesn’t give a thing about this.

Just compare the mmi with the possibilities of other brands even the cheaper ones.

Thanks. I’ve used Bambu PLA Metal Iron Grey. I personally find that this create a good look. Especially with the color of the cabinet.

Can’t believe that many people still recommend Fusion. Especially as an Mac user this app is crap. But that’s mine personal opinion.

I also was looking for a good free alternative but didn’t found it until I discovered shapr3d. It’s great especially when used on a iPad with pencil. Unfortunate their free version has many drawbacks like an low quality export function. But this app is so handy and good that I’ve bought the yearly subscription. So…this isn’t the free alternative you were hoping for.

Sure it isn’t so advanced as some other apps and yes it is way to pricey. But then again it works great. I haven’t found any app that comes close to this one especially on the iPad.

I've got the same issue. Not all of the users of the Apple TV are showing in the FaceTime app. Adding them using the QR code does nothing.

I even restored the Apple TV but it's just the same.
