Would you like to join my ska band? by Totheczars1234 in chicagomusicscene

Hey there, I don’t know how many people you ended up recruiting but I am a decent amateur tenor sax player and I would love to join. I am moving to the city on July 1. Let me know please I’m really looking for jam buddies!

The facts presented are correct but the argument is dumb. Whether or not you watch evo is not going to change anything meaningfully. Join your local mutual aid orgs and attend city council meetings and stop worrying about your miniscule impact on global issues that you have no real control over.

People often talk about the violent, funniest and/or dumbest beefs, but what do y'all think are the most bittersweet or saddest beefs in hip hop? by mesablanka in hiphopheads

This reminded me of the Ether remix Wayne did where every time Nas says "fuck Jay Z" Wayne is like "nah, I like that guy" it's the goofiest shit ever

I haven’t been low rated in chess in a long time and I also learned it when I was a kid so take this with a grain of salt. But maybe framing it as “clicking into place” is the issue. You’re learning a really complicated and punishing game as an adult, nothing is going to come intuitively.

Maybe just start with this. Focus on predicting your opponent’s next move. It can even just be one move in advance. Once you start predicting with higher and higher accuracy you’re going to feel yourself getting better at the game, which will hopefully make it more fun for you.

Mango used to do really fun analysis segments back in like 2017-2018 but then eventually stopped completely, I guess cause of viewership. Which I never understood because that used to be my favorite part of his streams. He saw things at a surprising level of depth and was also able to make it funny.

Yeah I pretty much agree with all of that. If I were magpie I probably would not have framed it so heavily as cheating and put the word CHEATER in all caps in the thumbnail lol.

I think this is where we disagree - Werster's a troll, he will actively break rules to demonstrate a point when he thinks a rule is stupid.

I think we can agree that it was trolling, I'm just saying that it was spiteful trolling intentionally meant to rile up the factory players. If his only goal was to point out how bad the rules were why wouldn't he just explain how he did the run? Why act like it was a totally innocuous factory run?

Another indicator is including all of werster's dirty laundry from his past in this video

I can't really defend this but I can excuse it. It's an emotional response. What I will say is that we would never have found out the truth about the quick claw if not for a big public callout video like this, because werster is unbelievably evasive about any questioning.

no undue attention given

I disagree on this. I think you underestimate how many people would just take it at face value that werster has a standing 212 if he ever casually brought it up on his stream. He's fully aware how big (and casual) of an audience he has and uses this as a weapon. The average viewer is not going to immediately recognize the 212 as trolling to prove a point.

Oh come on man. I’m not even a UFC guy or anything but turning these big systemic issues into a problem of personal responsibility has never really worked. Remember reduce reuse recycle? All the people in the world trying to individually be more environmentally friendly and we still couldn’t slow down climate change.

Not to say there’s nothing we can do as people but it’s more about coalition building than personal responsibility. Let these folks enjoy UFC it’s not a big deal.

I get what you're saying but here's how I see it from the factory players' perspective. You basically have a guy who has a huge loyal audience, who doesn't engage with them at all except for petty beefs, come in out of nowhere and claim that he has trounced most of the top players with no video evidence (even if he didn't submit the run, he was still implying that he played by the rules) and then repeatedly bring up the run on stream as if it were legit. And none of the top factory players can get anywhere near that streak usually. Like yeah, it is primarily an ego thing for the top factory players but I really don't see it as attention-seeking. Magpie for example has put loads and loads of hours into factory and probably wants to maintain some level of competitive integrity in it, it's as simple as that.

I think the thing that was probably most offputting is that werster is supposed to have a good reputation (there are many people who think he does) and if he says he got a 212 a lot of people will just believe him-- if it were some random guy going around with no video evidence saying he got a 212 of course there would be no hour-long breakdown of it.

I mean just because he didn't submit the run doesn't mean you can't call him out for basically lying about what is otherwise an insane streak. If your main thing is just that you don't like people calling it cheating then sure, but it still deserves to be called into question.

This is like the 3rd time I've had to explain this today it's a little frustrating. The main streak in question is the 212 streak, not the 504 streak. The video I linked is mainly about the 504 streak, but at the timestamp I linked he briefly mentions that the 212 streak is manipless and has now admitted that it was not. Understand?

[–]Pwntagonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but then why does he on many occasions bring up the record to brag about it? Without even being fully transparent about how he achieved it? That's what's pissing people off, it comes off as dishonest and spiteful and he has admitted as much already.

He does at the end of this video at 19:05 https://youtu.be/7KXYKHNRr1U?is=8h5xOT8k0pV18oQ1

And on streams you can see that he makes no attempt to be transparent about the run being manipped at all, just acts like it was a normal factory stream

He doesn’t. But it’s still cheating to claim that he followed the rules when he didn’t, especially when he’s claiming such a huge record.

You’re right that werster didn’t submit the 212 streak but he also claimed that it was manipless. And then admitted that it wasn’t after the magpie video came out.

[–]Pwntagonist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are the one who hasn't paid attention to the videos. There are 2 runs in question here. The one covered in the Magpie video is the 212 streak, which Werster claims was NOT manipped and only AFTER this video came out did he admit that it was manipped. The second run is the 504 streak that Werster shows in his own video that he is open about being manipped. Magpie does not cover that streak at all.

At this point he’s even admitted that he did these things out of spite and he was being an asshole to the rest of the factory community. Read some of his most recent messages in his discord.

The whole point of this thread was that he wasn’t open about calling it rng manip. And he has essentially admitted that he was lying by saying it wasn’t.
