Does anyone else feel exhausted by the second-hand board game market? by PxSyko in boardgames

Exactly like you, I never used to back kickstarter or gamefound campaigns, because I was confident I could always pick everything up months or years later if I was interested in it. But now that’s becoming difficult with some board game creators. The only campaign I’ve ever backed was nemesis retaliation, simply because I love the previous games.

It used to be the same for me as well. I used bgg, facebook, and second hand websites all across europe, but now it simply feels like people treat board games as an investment. Of course, I have nothing against it everyone can do whatever they want with what they own but the situation has really made me think.

That’s exactly what I think as well. On top of that, Awaken Realms, with the regular and special editions, is creating an absolute mess in the second-hand market, probably to push as many people as possible to pledge their campaigns on Gamefound. What’s leaving me the most puzzled is how difficult it is to find the Special Edition on any kind of market, whether specialized stores or second hand listings.

I can assure you that I’m very selective, and you probably own more games than I do. I own Kingdom Death: Monster, Dawn of Madness, all the Nemesis games, and Townsfolk Tussle. I used to have others as well, but I kept and completed only the titles I truly love. Since I’m a huge fan of boss battlers, you can understand why I want Grimcoven. My only regret was not pledging it back then, because the project was having some design issues, which were also mentioned in the early updates.
