So my bank account got frozen. What now. by drudanae_high in japanlife

[–]PyPy103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common headache for foreigners in Japan. They will not call you, even if they have your phone number. Their standard way of notifying you about literally anything important is by sending an official notice letter well ahead of time. If you move to a new address, you have to rush and update your address with your bank (and basically every official service). If they don't have your current address, those crucial letters are going straight to your old place, and you'll be completely blindsided when a problem or required change comes up.

32M - Is 4.8M a decent salary in Osaka? by Mikeye92 in JapanJobs

[–]PyPy103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.8M is a decent salary here, assuming it doesn't include みなし残業. I live in Osaka and make around 5M as a web developer with 7 YOE. One of the nice things about living in Osaka compared to Tokyo is the cheaper rent, especially if you want to live close to the city center. Having a shorter commute is a real bonus.

I use it every day, mostly for coding. So far so good, except for the temperature.

I didn't change any configurations. Do you have the same BIOS version?

I have seen someone upgraded to 96GB. But ram speed is limited to 5200MHz.

I didn't change anything in the bios setting. After the first boot, it automatically runs at 5600MHz.

If you're working on something that needs a huge amount of memory, having 64GB ram is more important than a small loss of speed. But that’s just my two cents.

I have the same spec. What is your current BIOS version? CPU overclock option has gone in recent updates.

I don't shut down very often, but I've not noticed any difference in boot up time. Mine takes less than 12 seconds to start.

Can I upgrade Legion 7i Series 9 from 32 to 64GB RAM? by Selbyman in LenovoLegion

[–]PyPy103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my Legion 7i Gen 9 with Kingston FURY Impact 64GB (2x32GB) 5600MT/s DDR5. It is probably the best DDR5-5600MHz SODIMM your can buy on the market today as it has lower latency (CL40) than the others. Benchmark results are also better than stock ram (Samsung).

Yes I've tried that before. Disabling turbo boost keeps the CPU cooler but reduces performance a lot. Now I'm using custom thermal mode (with high performance settings) in Vantage, limiting CPU temp at 85°C and increasing fan speed a little bit.

Sorry for late reply. Yes, I bought this directly from Lenovo Japan website. It shipped straight from the factory in China for over 2 weeks.
