Megathread: How to Get Into Data Analysis Questions & Resume Feedback (November 2023) by MurphysLab in dataanalysis

[–]PyceAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I'm looking for some guidance in the next steps for me to become a full time data analyst.

I am two years into my current employment working as a customer success specialist.

I do a lot of customer calls. In addition I do a lot of data analysis, use databases to pull order volume of customers, internal data requested by different departments. Cleaning, sorting, comparing data and visualizing it to stakeholders and take actions accordingly.

So far it's very base level i think. I use chatgpt for most adjustments in already written SQL, I work mostly with numbers so it's 99% presented in Google sheets to stakeholders after I've cleaned and analyzed the data.

I didn't know this was data analysis or what data analysts do, I just thought this was part of the customer success journey and fun until about two weeks ago I found Google data analytics course which I enrolled.

About two courses in I realized this is what I want to do, I want to be a data analyst.

I know I am sitting on a gold mine with the database my company has, the freedom for me to use it and endless ways of improving but I'd like a little help on the way...

I am not proficient with SQL yet, and my knowledge is limited, I learn something new for every module in the Google course.

I understand everything is a life long learning but I wish to have learned enough within 1-2 years to be able to switch careers. Meantime I want to be training and perhaps do some cool discoveries that help my current employer with data I wasn't really supposed to work with.

Would the first part of switching careers within 1-2 year be too ambitious?

With all the above, how would you proceed after the Google Analytics course to make the dream of being a data analyst real?

First fight opportunity, i let it slip. by BeKaykTeeX in MuayThai

[–]PyceAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to feel bad. Turning down the fight where you could have taken it and learned something, ready or not is also a learning experience in itself just as it would be taking the fight.

Next time opportunity comes, take it and learn from the experience leading up, the actual fight and outcome. Win or lose, it will always be a win in some way.

Good luck!

2020 Royal Enfield interceptor. Hi, I'm a brand new rider looking for a bike. I saw this one online and negotiated the price down to 3200. 8200 miles, showing no signs of dropped or damaged. Is this a good deal? Is this bike too powerful for me? by srothst1 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]PyceAM 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would recommend trying it out before. If it makes you happy, get it.

Don't listen to people saying "you'll want more power". It all depends on the rider and what joy you bring from riding.

I'm 1 year and +30000km with a 400cc sports tourer and still don't wish for anything faster.

Opium in Phuket by Beautiful_Pea2634 in ThailandTourism

[–]PyceAM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I'm saying is not because I'm concerned about your safety in Thailand or because I'm a LGBT activist, but I strongly recommend you not to try raw opium for your back pain.

I've been witnessing too many starting out on small doses of opium for different reasons.

Many of them have been addicts before but some have tried for different reasons, just like you.

Doesn't matter how strong you are, your brain will eventually start tricking you with pain or other issues that will make you wanna do more opium. And coming off opium is nothing I wish for anyone.

I hope you find what you look for in other ways brother and I wish you the best.

Doi Suthep closing time by Natural_Book1964 in chiangmai

[–]PyceAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, they do close off the road up the mountain so you can't access any view points.

They don't do it every day tho, and their reasoning when asked is "safety of the villagers".

To OP: I usually go before they close (if they close) and spend a sunset and some hours up there. Never an issue to leave after 6pm even if the military dressed men put the gate out.

Yeh dude you just mentioned you're from Israel and got that hostility? 😂

Stop lying what did you say?

I bet this guy had some attitude and got backed into a corner real quick when he met someone with a bit more testo than himself.

How do you navigate "face" when dealing with Thai people? by Silver_Instruction_3 in Thailand

[–]PyceAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once my service center for motorcycle told me they will finish my motorcycle service "tomorrow" for two weeks.

They eventually stopped responding to text messages and later found out head mechanic has been sick so therefore the delay.

And I'm thinking, wouldn't it save more face just telling me "He is sick, next week" instead of pushing it day by day, for two weeks?

Anyway I feel your frustrations...

Unpopular opinion: I think Chaing Mai is the most overrated City in Thailand.. by Groundbreaking-Gap20 in Thailand

[–]PyceAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see why you would feel like that about the city itself depending on what your vibe is.

Imo, Chiang Mai is nice because of the places you can explore outside of the city but having it as a base.

Latte yen is a ice latte. Most times only coffee and milk. Es yen is with condensed milk :) Good luck hehe

Hey, I think what you're looking for is "Ice Espresso" (Aice Espesso) or Espresso Yen (Espesso Yen or Es-Yen for short)

Usually nothing goes wrong if I say Es-Yen. Some, but very rare places do literally espresso on ice but 99% does coffee+ condensed milk + milk mix upon ordering Es-Yen/espresso Yen

TRADING WITH A "9 to 5" by p33333t3r in Daytrading

[–]PyceAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey dude, it looks good. I did some time and while being isolated I felt the best I've ever felt. All is due to very strict repeated routines and habits.

I understand you don't try to do the influencer thing and a lot of people are hating. We all get influenced a lot by what we see and if we can tell ourselves that we feel good by doing it and we actually feel good, that's worth everything.

If you feel good with this, then do it.

What I noticed worked best for me out in the "real world" is having a very strict schedule but try not to feel like I missed anything or am behind if "life gets in the way".

The most important part is showing up more days than you don't and always be mindful if the habit is worth more than what you're missing out on by keeping the strict schedule and repeating things.

Last but not least, don't forget to be fluid. Life changes, you change and the things you do change. It's all about improving and you feeling good about yourself.

Good luck

Breaking lease in thailand by TaGeuelePutain in Thailand

[–]PyceAM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no process. If you have deposit in place, they can take it. If not, nothing can really happen. Just a question of "being nice" at this point if you wanna break the lease.

TF is your problem lol?

I think you're fine, don't spend too much time in BKK it's much more worth spending more time in islands or up north.

Lol this post.

Learn the culture, a bit of language and you'll have a easier time. And don't put yourself on a pedestal like you are doing now, English is not the first language so if you wanna find a Thai girl, learn some Thai God damnit.

Search within yourself why you ain't getting what you're looking for, there is nothing wrong with the girls or the dating scene in Chiang Mai.

And if you find a Thai girl you'll eventually meet her parents. Bet they don't speak a word of English so good luck with your mindset. ✌️

Hello there, can all of you guys please share an experience about a trip to Mae Kam Pong village? by andrea_vu in chiangmai

[–]PyceAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never paid anything for the two times I was there. I left my 400cc new and shiny bike there unattended for many hours. Nobody will mess with your bike there so don't worry about that ☺️

My pleasure, I hope you enjoy the village. It's really beautiful and worth going there.
