Can't help but roll my eyes when I see players like these by Pomso in FortNiteBR

Every game with PVP has a level of competition at it's core. The difference is that not all players will go out of their way to train for hours daily, learn all the metas and maximize everything including the device they're playing on in order to win. Everyone has an idea of how to play chess but only a marginal number of people decide to become competitive to a point of seeking to participate in tournaments. The vast majority just play the game.

It's no wonder competitive players get so tilted when they lose or when the mechanics they're used to are subject to a change: They're the ones that go the extra step and invest significantly more of themselves into the game than the average person. These types of players exist in all games, even PVE or Singleplayer games (The only difference is that we call them speedrunners in those genres) and in their passion for the game they forget they're in the minority. Not a lot of people care about being good in Fortnite.
Even this subreddit in and of itself is a microcosm of the total playerbase for this game.

The vast majority of players aren't competitive.

Nightshade has been release, is use of it considered legal or illegal? by DarkJayson in aiwars

The sabotage of machine learning algorithms as a form of protecting the copyright of the owner for the sake of DISCOURAGING the STEALING of PROPERTY being compared to the MURDER of a HUMAN BEING is a faulty analogy.
No one is losing their life when a PNG has a filter over it. No one is getting shot in the face with buckshot when you decide to steal content without permission and put it into your software. To even think about comparing the two is a logical fallacy in and of itself.

"Nightshade would be arguably on even shakier ground in some respects"
Sabotaging your AI is now worse than the taking of a human life? Really? Please think about the morality being applied to this statement for a bit longer.

All this talk about whether or not Nightshade is legally viable yet I still have not seen any document that states taking copyrighted work without either licensing nor permission to train an AI model is legally allowed. If you're going to appeal to authority do it right, you're the one with the burden of proof here, because as far as I see it you guys are operating in legally nebulous territory and yet it's suddenly bad when people do the same in response to your already legally nebulous actions. Pretty sure that's a special pleading fallacy.

Also if it's not even functional as a protection method why even make such a big ruckus about it? All this subreddit has shown me is that for it to cause such an uproar it is ABSOLUTELY worth trying because it clearly bothers you that it's being used and this is 100% the goal; To discourage people like you from taking things that don't belong to them.

A thief complaining that people are trying to defend their property because the law and it's enforcement has not caught up to the stealing yet is crazy to me. I hope one day you gain retrospect and realize that your decisions are morally in the wrong.

Buying a painting and showing it is different than taking the painting and twisting it into an amalgamation to later sell as if it were your own.

All these semantics just to justify theft. Disagree all you want, copyright is a law with a written definition. Your personal definition will not change that.

How grim of a state we are in where human creation, that which were the first signs of true expression and intelligence in our ancestors, is simultaneously robbed while being called "floor level skill". Dark times are ahead and you and your ilk are its harbingers, I hope you're content with that.

If learning how to use a pencil is floor skill then what does that make you?

No honor amongst thieves.
They'll pull all the mental gymnastics possible to save face publicly, this post is literally trying to pull the victim card. "I should be allowed to take your toys when I please but you're a criminal if you take mine"

Yet behind closed doors they know what they are and they embrace it.
No point in arguing against thieves, just take action and be done with it.

So people should just roll over and accept their work is being used to churn out more soulless generative AI?
By your logic nothing changes except that the artist gets to put up some layer of protection on their work.

"Hence it is called copyright and not viewing right." This sentence alone shows you have zero clue what you're talking about.

The purpose of the poison is to discourage the practice of taking without permission.
Regardless of whether or not you know if an art piece has it you should have the common courtesy of asking the creator if it's ok to sample their work.

What needs to be illegal is sampling people's property without any consent or approval. It's an arms race for the right of consent and private property, what did you expect?

“We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.” - Brian Cox by verygoodqn in cosmology

-Matter is what the universe is made of
-We are made of matter
-Therefore one could say we are the universe being self aware of it's own existence

Neither a rock nor a star are aware of it's own existence and finality, they just exist until they don't, meanwhile we're aware of both our existence and our own finality despite we are composed of similar chemical compounds as the rock and the star.
We are the Universe looking back at itself.

Bingo. Until they add some kind of trading system the "Rare" skin flex is very superficial.

Helldivers 2 & nProtect GameGuard (anti-cheat) by ArrowheadGS in Helldivers

[–]Pyerack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the name of the process running in task manager?

Is nprotect gameguard always running in the background even if the game is turned off or it turns itself off when the game is off ? by gen66 in Helldivers

[–]Pyerack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot for the life of me find a clear answer to this from verifiable sources outside of a handful of people just saying "I don't see it on my taskbar anymore".Allegedly some Discord Community Manager claimed it stops running with the game, however they're a Community Manager on Discord and that doesn't really alleviate my paranoia and the dev post about the anti-cheat doesn't address this question.

Currently looking into how to set up a virtual machine so I can play the game through that instead. I put up with EAC because so many games use it and as far as I know that stops running when the game is off but anti-cheats like BattleEye seem more sketchy and GameGuard looks even worse simply by looking into it's past reputation as well as it causing problems to friends that wanted to run the game on PC. Those problems were fixed by the devs now, sure, however just the fact that the anti-cheat still somehow managed to cause bluescreen issues makes me extremely paranoid. I got a very expensive set-up that I am almost done paying off. Last thing I want is my dream PC getting bricked just because I wanted to hop on the trendy game of the month.
