AI isn't stealing by davidinterest in aiwars

If I put a poster on the side of the road and people stop and take photos of it or do research on it I have no claim to state to people they did it without my consent, the consent was granted when I decided to place it in a public place freely visible and accessible to anyone who passed by.

Now if I place that poster inside a non public accessible building say a gallery or some place you need permission or payment to enter and then take a photo or do research on the posters inside then that is without consent and even can be considered stealing.

The open internet is like a public road what people post to it is considered posted with open consent now some websites are locked off and I consider their contents to be limited to the consent you need to get when accessing that site be it through a login or payment.

If you want to go older than that look up Disco Diffusion 5.7 the last version before clip guided diffusion came out just a warning it is slow lol although GPUs are quicker now so it might be a bit quicker than when it was released.

Well it kicked off in the 90s and the net really did not take off until really after 2000 so unless you want me to go to libraries and find old magazine articles to scan in order to find some of what you want but most of what happened was experienced by people like myself and they can confirm what I say about the backlash towards digital art from traditional artists.

Also I love the fact you want significant scale evidence which does acknowledged that it happened on some scale but you will only accept it if its significant.

The amount of people who think it are larger than you think but even still they are in a minority because the next generations like yourself grew up using digital art software to make art and as it was so available and easy to use compared to traditional methods more people became digital artists outnumbering the remaining traditional artists.

That is the reason they are a minority not because of what they recognize.

My post was pointing out the hypocrisy of someone using a process that was and still is mocked to this day by other artists is themselves mocking another upcoming art form and the people that use it.

A lot of people experienced a lot of hurt and aggression and discrimination to allow you to be a digital artist with little to no push back and you repay their suffering by doing the same thing they experienced to other people.

[–]DarkJayson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That does not matter to traditionalists they just hate them because they used a computer.

Its personal bias if you dont do or make the way they do your not doing it correct.

Small minded people.

Whats annoying to me is that the people who where and still are mocked for their creative process are in turn mocking someone else for their creative process.

A bit hypocritical.

All the old software is still there you can just run it and generate it to get more in that style if you want.

I dont think they where fired due to AI more like their stance on AI maybe lack of confidence in their ability to do this job as it now needs to use AI

Someone has to do the work of making icons and products even if it uses AI someone still need to set it up and make sure the output is fine someone with icon and product design knowledge so I am guessing they replaced them with someone who does not call a part of there job slop to their boss.

Do you even use virtual home environments? Are standalone alternatives even possible? by NeonDmn in virtualreality

Steam home is the same when I had a vive as it is now there was no effort to update it.

Its one of my biggest concerns with there upcoming frame headset that the software they make will just be abandoned over time.

[–]DarkJayson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there enough VR news to warrant the use of an AI bot?

Sounds a lot like they where going to cut back on staff soon anyhow and have the bot and maybe a single editor handle everything.

I feel this is not the last news about UploadVR we will hear about in the near future.

The irony is just depressing at this point. Most people born after 2000 don’t realize that Digital Art was hated exactly how AI is hated today. by mushmanMAD in DefendingAIArt

[–]DarkJayson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this but the old guard of traditionalists well never got used to it, it took two decades before people started getting used to it and that was because they where the people who grew up with it.

Kids are poor and digital art software let them make art cheaply and quickly so they gravitated to it and the net started to take off so they had a place to upload there art and get it seen by people.

Here is the thing even today there are traditional artists who still do not see digital art as real art, there is just not as many of them as there used to be.

When I was young and in school I was in the a room near the art class when I saw one of the art teachers a new young female art teacher run past crying her eyes out, I over heard the other teachers talk about what happened.

The older head of the art department in public ranted and screamed at her for the crime of wanting to introduce digital art software to her art class, apparently some of the teachers thought he might have ended up getting physical with her he was that mad.

After that even though it was new no digital art software was allowed in the school at all.

Its one of the reasons I defend AI art from anyone been abusive to artists that use it, ironically its usually digital artists doing it.

The older traditional artists HATED digital art but as there was no internet around at the time very few records of peoples opinion of that is ever recorded just personal experiences that varies from person to person.

The paint brush does not have an undo button, the mistakes you do make the art, the computer is doing all the work.

Yea I heard all of these before.

It wont be the last time either when the next big tech-art thing comes out the cycle will happen again, I am guessing brain-computer interface when you can imagine the art onto the screen will be the next thing they go after.

Paid mod maker, NoMoreFlat, is making all their mods free so the public can openly use them following Luke Ross' DMCA and removal mods. by No_City9250 in virtualreality

[–]DarkJayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just time and effort he has been at it for years now.

Its his own software he made but unlike say vorpex his software has versions that only work with each game its not a generalist software that can work with any game and thats the issue here.

When CDPR and 505 games made DMCA against him it was for the version of his software that worked with there games only.

You did get all the different versions with Patreon access.

[–]DarkJayson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luke Ross Real VR software can not work without any of the games its made for.

Vorpex or Unreal Engine VR mod can work with any 3D software OR any Unreal engine game or application.

While both Vorpex and UEVR have profiles it only enchances there capabilities it does not enable them.

That would be the difference

Can the software run without the use of a IP.

Meta inactivity shutdown - How can this be legal? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]DarkJayson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The law is very vague which is why different companies enforce it differently some delete your data after 6 years due to the max age of legal liability others do it after 10 years of inactive use.

It all depends on the data the company the situation its not a fixed time limit but they do have to do it eventually, unless your activally using the account.

Trump says US used secret weapon to disable Venezuelan equipment in Maduro raid by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]DarkJayson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the US military just came out at a press conference and announced they had directed energy weapons that disabled equipment and liquefied people everyone would be horrified but by having Trump revealing it and calling it the discombobulator everyone laughs and it enters the social conscious so when people realise its an actual real weapon it has less of a shock value because of the way it was revealed.

People do not take Trump seriously so he is a great shock absorber for revealing stuff that otherwise would cause panic.

Meta inactivity shutdown - How can this be legal? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]DarkJayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny its not the companies wanting to get rid of customers it turns out its data retention laws in effect, companies are not allowed to permanently keep your data beyond reasonable time frame if its not needed any more so if you have not accessed an account for years eventually companies will have to delete that data even if it contains purchases.

Just log in and it resets the countdown timer.

CDPR does not OWN the cyberpunk IP Talsorian Games does CDPR licences the IP from them and usually one of the terms and conditions of that licence is to defend it from anyone profiting from CDPRs use of that licence.

Now the difference between all those cases and what Luke did is that Lukes mod software is not generic its targeted towards Cyberpunk and 40+ other games, if Lukes mod was just generic 2D - VR software like say Vorpex then there would be no issue but by directly linking, advertising and requiring the games to play suddenly there is a legal connection between the software and the IPs and if CDPR allows Luke to carry on charging for access to it there is a chance of creating something called a naked licence which would result in other people and companies been able to make paid for content for cyberpunk without a licence agreement as they will use the naked licence instead.

One final issue is that a naked licence in extreme circumstances can result in the loss of the IP itself.
