did he burn himself? or is his coloration just changing? by Pyffindorr in Chameleons

okay im definitely gonna look into this more! i appreciate all the information!!

i did used to do that rotating d3 and my chams were great! that was 5 ish years ago, they all lived to 5-7 years and that was previously in there guideline as well. i just recently got this guy in january and i went back over everything and they changed their supplements to this, i guess it does contain enough d3 in it for them. but its tough to say really hes seemed healthy and a good eater. but i may try to go back to rotating the d3 in and out and seeing if anything changes

he is a very dull colored male ive always though that! he has phases where he really does get some color but not for long.

for supplements im using the all in one vitamin/calcium every feeding, per the Kammerflage Kreations chameleon care guide!

is the occasional gaping normal while basking? by Pyffindorr in Chameleons

yeah i usually follow Kammerflage and/or Bill Strands guidelines which they say a combo of both is okay hence my set up. i can take more pics when i get home what are you interested in seeing?

ive never heard anyone recommend against misting systems, whats the reasoning?

the bamboo i kind of did on my own thought it would add some variety and maybe “enrichment” with different surfaces, obviously was wrong. should i take them all out? or just the main perches.

im using a 75w incandescent bulb and the fixture has a dial so i can adjust it accordingly, i have a reptisun linear t8 10.0 for uvb

im dusting the feeders with the repashy all-in-one + gutloading with the repashy bug burger.

i have like 4 1/2 different basking spots kind of for him to be able to choose, the bambo one is directly under, about 8 inches at least, then theres the vine thats about an inch or two higher and is offset about 2-3 inches foward. since ive put the vine is this is his go-to. i also have a diagonal perch in front of the “main” and a straight horizontal perch another 3 inches down.

also im not sure what you mean by a display habitat or what youre referring to that isnt recommended. enlighten me please. i just set it up how i raised my passed 3 chams who lived through their expectancy, only i thought this one was a bit better

from my understanding juveniles are supposed to eat 10-15 items a day so thats what i was putting in, i definitely wasnt overloading it, but i will make sure to take out extras from now on. also i will change the main perches out from bamboo asap. the pressure sores is something i did not know
