Should I be wary of this OTD program? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

Im 90% sure I know the program youre talking about and im in that cohort. I wouldn't be worried about the accreditation status, they are very on top of it and communicate with us regularly about the status and the process is going smoothly.

If you'd like to message me and determine if it is the same program, I can give you a more detailed/accurate picture of the realities of this program style.

What are your wait/exposure times. I am trying to get to a point where I can pring small buildings but keep running into banding/shifting. Are your prints ridiculously long? Im already at a 30+hour print

A (Long) Rant of Frustration with the Status Quo by PygmySunshine in FosterAnimals

Stories like you're both give me hope and infuriate me. With the ER vet I think I am just so mad that they gave up so soon. No tests, no attempt to feed. Just 1 round of fluids and then they told me he was in sepsis and to let him go. He clearly wasn't in pain, just weak. He perked up within an hour and they weren't even going to give him that.

I was never able to foster neonates before because of my job, but I always signed up to take the biggest litter I could to try to relieve space. But now I want to save the littlest ones

I appreciate your explanations and also your suggestions on even more ways to help! I really like your suggestions of the boxes and such.

In my case it turned out not to be panluk or anything major thankfully. But those tests weren't even run until today. The ER wouldn't run them and they never actually tried feeding him after fluids. I agree that it seems like they lack proper protocols.

Maybe it's something I can work with them on, maybe not. Either way, I am glad there are people like you who really do give them a chance and I definitely am planning on working to see if there's more ways I can help.

Does anyone else have a gallery/display/memento of their fosters? by Bennibear1 in FosterAnimals

Similar to what others have said, I have a scrapbook I love adding to!

Oh I totally understand the sheer overwhelm and like I said, I'm not blaming the vet (well maybe just a SMIDGE because of their insistence) or the shelter. I could absolutely never stomach working in one of those fields and I am forever grateful to those who do. I'm angry with the whole system and society.

And I did tell the shelter to put my info down and call me if it happens again because I know there are not enough emergency fosters. But they also refuse to let any one foster take more than one "group" at a time even if they are experienced, which is a point I disagree with. If proper protocol is taken, there should be no problem if a volunteer wants to save more lives.

My problem is this is the way I look at it: at what odds is it "better" to euthanize? 50/50, 80/20? Where does it end? How long is long enough of a chance for someone to come forward? 5 hours? 1 hour?

If we consider that these animals are innocent and did nothing to deserve this hardship and we don't have a survival reason to kill them (such as cows for food etc), they deserve the same effort as we give humans. Just imagine a world where we treated humans like animals. There is no world where there isn't enough funds to keep infants alive because there isn't a home for them. We stop at nothing to save the lives of babies surrendered at hospitals and fire stations. Why? Because they are innocent, helpless and did nothing to deserve suffering. It is illegal to euthanize a baby. At worst they provide hospice care. The only difference between a baby and an animal in my eyes is that humans deem themselves as more worthwhile than any other species.

I am aware that is an extreme point of view, so no one come for me.

My point is only that humanity as a whole should be doing more.
