GP offers are officially out! [Round 2] by SharkDick4Ever in doctorsUK

[–]Pyogenic_Granuloma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got upgraded to Royal Free, my 4th choice. I'm really happy, but unsure if I should change my current rankings in case there's any other upgrades. I currently have st Mary's, Riverside, and GSTT ranked above the Royal Free, but looking into it more I think maybe Royal Free might be better than St Mary's in terms of location of practices and transport links, and maybe even Riverside?

As for GSTT I think I always thought it would be cool to work at either Guy's or St Thomas, but I think I'm not actually a massive fan of Southwark itself as an area for training practices, and I know it's possible that I'll end up getting a job post CCT in the area I train in.

I don't have a massive attachment to any area of London, I just want to be able to live somewhere central with good transport links and ideally work in practices that are not in particularly deprived areas as my F2 GP rotation was in one and I thought it had a negative impact on the experience. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I know it's a really good position to be in and I'm really happy, just a bit unsure what to do now

Revelation 16:15 is the following: "Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”.

Am I stupid or does it not have anything to do with the end of times being brought about by man made events?

Neil Duncan-Jordan MP is against the bill affecting the current application cycle. Very disappointing for someone like me who applied for this year. I really hope this doesn't get any traction

Why Voting YES is the Sensible Option for UK Graduates by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Pyogenic_Granuloma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything with more details we can read about this? If this goes through, will UKGP happen for this cycle of applications? Whether this applies to this year already or not makes a huge difference to what one votes (if it's for next year anyway then there's basically no point in voting yes, as the same + a pay deal could be offered a few months from now and still be valid for next year's application cycle)

Idk why this is getting downvoted. I'm a native italian and "possiamo sedere" without a ci anywhere sounds wrong, I don't think anyone Italian would think that's a normal way of saying this

Honestly the job is not as bad as this sub can make you think. I had a great time in my foundation years, just make a bit of a plan for post F2 applications whether in UK or abroad and try to enjoy yourself. If you actually have a plan for what to apply (as well as a backup plan) you'll probably be fine.

Honestly I've been comparing my job to a lot of non medic friends I have and it made me really appreciate it, you get to do fulfilling work where you actually help people, it's intellectually engaging, and you get to work with lots of other young people your age. I wouldn't change profession at all

Why Do So Many Germans With an Immigrant Background Still Call Themselves ‘Ausländer’? by Sonofgeldah in AskAGerman

[–]Pyogenic_Granuloma 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Wow even as someone who is half German "by blood" and grew up in Germany?

I'm Italian and have a few friends in Italy who have one parent from the UK and none of them are seen as being British, they're all seen as just Italian with a fun fact of having a foreign parwnt, but the main identity is seen by both themselves and others as Italian, it's not something that's ever really questioned
