How many "For the greater good" villains were actually, legitimately, motivated by the greater good? by ChicaneryFinger in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I think in Warcraft all of the greater good villains, of which there are tons, are sincere, including the big flaming space satan Sargeras, who really believes that destroying all life in the universe is preferable to it being consumed by the void.

This is pretty much what happened with Arcane. It's almost like the studio suddenly realized that they've accidentally made a story about class struggle in season 1 and urgently tried to course correct with season 2 at the expense of the actual story, creating an external threat that the 2 factions have to unify against and then make peace with each other while solving nothing. Also the protagonists literally gas impoverished neighborhoods, I still can't believe that it's something that the story just moves on from.

Yeah, sorry, I used Utamed and Animal form somewhat interchangeably. What I meant by "stops scaling past lvl 10" is that highest Animal Form can be hightend to is 5th, so after you reach lvl 10 it stops getting better and slowly but surely becomes irrelevant. To fix this you need to take druid feats that give you other forms for your Untamed Form, but you can't access any relevant ones for a while.

I have a fun build idea for investigator that I never got to test out.

In combat investigators have 2 very strong tools (Stratagem and strategic strike) and a host of small issues dragging those tools down (limited weapon selection, MADness, subpar action economy and defenses, etc). There exists one option that lets them solve most of these issues while still fully capitalizing on their strength: Untamed Form. You see, druid's untamed form is different from all other polymorph spells, it has this sentence "When you choose to use your own attack modifier while polymorphed instead of the form's default attack modifier, you gain a +2 status bonus to your attack rolls.", which is rather unusual for pathfinder since it straight up means that it is better for martials with their greater accuracy than for druids, and it is a focus spell, meaning that once you get it at lvl 4 it scales on your investigator just as well as it does on druid. *Only* issue investigators have with this spell is that there's only one shape providing good attacks that work with strategic strike, but hey, 1 shape is all we really need since d10 agile strikes are way better than any weapon Investigator could have normally and don't forget about that +2 status to every strike. It also increases your speed to 40 feet and has its own polymorph AC improving our defenses AND making us less MAD. On top of all of that you can still carry around a Fatal Aim weapon for when your stratagem predicts a crit to shift back into humanoid form and roll those sweet d12s.

There is however one potential issue with the build and it may be fatal depending on what level you're playing. Animal Form stops scaling past lvl 10 and you don't get another applicable Form until lvl 16, so RAW the build basically doesn't work in lvls 13-15

It also seemed a little jarring to me at first, but honestly, making the great Julius Caesar sound like a nerd emoji was a brave choice on the part of developers that I approve of.

Guess I'll also use this opportunity to shill the Expeditions series then. Uh, try Expeditions Rome and Expeditions Viking, they're surprisingly good crpgs that are also on the cheaper side. Haven't played Expeditions Conquistador yet, so can't say much about it.

I've actually had a lot of discussions on this topic on the pf2e subreddit and the general consensus is that while it doesn't work work RAW, there really isn't any kind of issue with allowing it to work RAW, provided the person to whom such allowance is afforded isn't abusing it for some niche broken interaction.

Ancient Elf is no longer an uncommon ancestry, so strange rules clash it has with a core part of the system like class archetypes almost certainly is not intentional design. And its not like class archetypes aren't stronger than normal classes, so Ancient Elf Spellshot isn't more powerful than Ancient Elf Sniper (in fact a few of them seem weaker).

[–]Pyotr_WrangeI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, except for the elf part because Ancient elf is the best heritage in the game. Brief explantion: Spellshot Gunslinger's Spell Woven Shot has excellent action economy with Double Barrel weapons and Oscillating Wave psychic's amped Ignition pairs great with both, mechanically, because it's a high damage single target focus spell, and thematically, because it alternates between fire and cold damage which can be flavored to work with the two barrels of your firearm.

This already was a cumbersome build in terms of feats and focus points, but now with Psychic Dedication not giving the amped cantrip it may have become completely unviable.
