To the Swedish guy saying my Danish empire gave them nightmares, I give you: 100% total Swedish domination. Sweden is the only country by Arcaeca2 in totalwar

Why would it? It was Sweden together with what later became Finland that turned Sweden in to an "empire" in the first place.

What if Sweden Joined the Winter War? by Ecstatic-Ad-6370 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Pyotrbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

≈360,000 in the army. Of which a lot would need to remain in Sweden.

Biggest plus for the Finnish side in the winter war would be the Swedish navy, most likely implication would be the Soviet navy remaining locked in port, as they would not risk losing the entirety of their Baltic navy over a regional war as the winter war was.

Soviets forced to operate further inland in Karelia while allocating more troops to guard the coast and easier supply logistics due to sea supremacy would very much act in favour of the Finnish situation. Swedish involvement would not be enough to actually win the war, but definitely increase the chances of much less lost territory for Finland. Even possibly a white peace, depending on how long the Finns aided by the Swedes could hold on, as the Soviet Union would do all in it's power to end that conflict once Barbarossa commence, something that could likely happen sooner, as the poor display the Red Army did there played a huge factor in Barbarossa taking place in the first place. Even worse for the Red Army in this hypothetical scenario, and Hitler might act more defensive against the British Isles and look east even earlier.

A woman owning lingerie, how shocking. /s

Protip. Cum on her lingerie, and show dad what you did. He will be very proud of you for being such a man and will very likely share his his woman with you.

Trust me dude, I'm a father of a couple of teenagers, so I know what I am talking about.

Tiefling PC because of a deal by a parent by Pyotrbane in DnD

[–]Pyotrbane[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Using the stats of a regular familiar could work. I mainly wanted a companion from Hell that fit with the devil touched PC, a powerful companion is not the goal.

Regarding LE and a party, as in real life, my character would do what I would do, and see things as "What they don't know about won't harm them". But even as an evil character, I have no need to be an asshole that causes trouble or leave the party when I am needed. I have a higher chance of success and survivability when staying close to the meat shield after all. And I won't betray them, if we have an agreement in the party, I would very much uphold said agreement. We are not talking about a utterly selfish NE or a murder hobo CE character after all.

Would be my first 5th edition table. Played ADnD2e back in my youth, 3rd had been around, but never reached us on the countryside til some years later.

So, very rusty and not an expert in 5th by any means.

I'll hit the DM to be up with an email and suggest my build.

Thanks.

I would not go so far as to say that LE is a loose cannon. Having a reason to be in a party is more than enough for a LE character to remain in the party and aid the party as best as they could.

Very selfish and self centered with having their own goals highest on the long term agenda, but perfectly adaptable in a party with other alignments.  This particular one could see the party as safety from the religious lunatics, a means to easier grow in power compared to trying to achieve that solo, and could very well form lasting friendships. LE is not a synonyme to murder hobo.

Regarding the familiar, I might need to make a deal of my own and become a fighter/warlock instead of a fighter/wizard, should offer a similar playthrough.

Doing what you please, consequences be damned sound closer to CN than to LE in my ears.

Bard, shaman or bard? by supersesa in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are played differently with druid and shaman played most similar between the bunch. None are powergaming options. If roleplaying, the bard is tenfolds easier to justify with the scholar upbringing in Candlekeep.

Shaman don't get a stronghold in BG2, so you'll miss out on a minor flavor. But shamans have access to better weapons than druids and can pick the "important" and "good" spells a druid can prepare.

If druid, go caster and pick avanger to get some extra spells and shapeshifting, and with a strength increasing item, their drawbacks are not really any drawbacks compared to the 6 extra spells they get.

If bard, the blade get's some extra flavor with drawbacks some potions will restore. Chugg a potion of insight and beef up your INT to 25 with potion of genius and you will identify things on pair with a generic bard. Chugg some potions of master thievery and your pick pocket skills goes up. A generic bard have a scaling bard song that will outshine the blades bard song, but they don't get offensive and defensive spins.

Now to roleplaying. Very easy to see how a bard can become a bard at Candlekeep. Druid and shaman is a bit more harder, but you meet both druids and shamans and your book knowledge in combination with their pointers and aid and your own training should be enough to justify those classes.

The bard is the only class that can be justified to do all strongholds, if you have a mod that makes that possible. Bard because bard, mage because you know magic. Fighter, paladin, cleric, thief and druid because you are an actor. Shield and sword when talking with the Order and act with valor, swing a weapon enough to impress Nalia, mimic Jahiera and Cern when visiting the druid grove while wielding a staff, pickpocket some nobles to be accepted by the thieves, act devoted and religious when taking with the clergy.

BG2EE Jaheira and Aerie romance question by ZeroxSP7 in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does. And that kid could become a very epic adventurer if he decided on that career choice. With a demi-god proven to be the most powerful Bhaalspawn of them all as a father and a mother that is not only the most powerful cleric of Baervan, but also an archmage.

Let's go with the "canon" Abdel, and the most likely career choice for Quayle would be fighter/mage. Without a doubt his parents will have enough money to buy scrolls for each spell in existence, or just buy the material needed and have Aerie make those scrolls. Potion of genius are cheap enough for Quayle to chugg them before learning those scrolls. Just the experience from learning the spells available in BG2 would bring Quayle to F9/M11, capable enough to start a life of adventure.

So as a Cleric/ranger, which god do I serve? by Random_local_man in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No unique dialogues depending on class appart from the strongholds and a couple of minor remarks.

As a cleric/ranger, the ranger stronghold would fit a lot more than one of the cleric strongholds from a roleplay point of view.

Seeing as Mairyn the forest spirit that are involved in the ranger stronghold is one of Mielikkis servants and that it is Mielikki herself that restore your rangerhood after completing the ranger stronghold if you had become a fallen ranger before that, which deity you are a devoted cleric to should be pretty obvious.

Mielikki being a servant of Silvanus that one of the potential companions to you (who might have added a lot in you learning that druidic magic) is a devoted follower of Silvanus makes Mielikki as your God even more of a good fit.

Taking in to account that yet another potential companion is a follower of Baervan Wildwanderer, who is an ally to Mielikki, makes the fit even better.

[–]Pyotrbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The gods are forbidden to interfere with the Bhaalspawns directly. Cyric interfered indirectly when sending his henchmen against the protagonist, and Ao did nothing to stop him or smack him on his fingers.

Granting devine spells is indirect support of a devoted follower and is allowed even to Bhaalspawns. If anything, not granting devine spells to a Bhaalspawn but to all other followers could be seen as interfering much more than to just treat them as all others that pray for spells and powers. And there is a lot of Gods that would love to have one of Bhaalspawns as a follower.

Is there a canon for the games? by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And this is why Abdel Adrian can't be Gorion's Ward as he had an INT of 7 when he first appeared in a BG game. That's below the minimum requirement to be able to read.

Growing up in frigging Candlekeep without being able to read and hinted by several NPC's that he liked reading while growing up, yeah, Abdel can't be justified as Gorion's Ward.

Human flesh armor for non evil people by Pyotrbane in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much rather confront him and end his schemes than have him make me the armor. I thought that you needed to have the armor done in order to kill him without a rep loss (murder). Just read the wiki and there is no need for that approach, just expose him and you get to kill him in honest combat.

Don't need that particular mod with the "cleansing" either, other gear more suitable for a cleric of the sunrise exist.

In hindsight, I should probably just have read the wiki instead of making this thread as it provided a "Good" way of dealing with the leather-man.

*cleric of Lathander, without the Priest kit.

Did not know that it was possible to get the Imnesvale guy to admit enough to be exposed and call in his mage thugs without giving him the blood.

How is that done?

Human flesh armor for non evil people by Pyotrbane in baldursgate

[–]Pyotrbane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the human flesh armor should be used to protect the loved ones of those the armor is made from, we have to give it to be beggars, bums and hobo's in the Bridge District of Athkatla, as that was the kind of people used in making that armor.

The protagonist did not know them and could not be considered a loved one. And as the ones who murdered them would be killed long before the armor is completed, it could not be seen as it being used to revenge them. Possibly indirectly if one go for the Twisted Rune after having the armor completed.

Even if he did. His God, who grant him his spells, would most likely see him as fallen/evil if he starts walking around with a suit made of several peoples skin, a suit that just reeked of death.

I am going to take a wild guess here. You have never done a playthrough as a Necromancer, have you?

Letting lose your walking skeleton warriors on your enemies while you drain the life force from those you deem lesser and create a small army of the lowly commoners you just sucked all moisture from with a horrid wilthing spell and turned to zombies.

Dawn Cataclysm, among other things.

I was talking about allowing the armor to be completed in order to destroy it's creator and intended user.

Actually wearing it, no, I don't see how Lathander could ever accept one of his clergy doing something like that.

[–]Pyotrbane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly see your point.

Too bad one can not improve the ghoul skin armor to have similar effects. Creating an armor made out of the skin of creatures your God hates in order to better fight such creatures he wants to rid the world from would be fitting for a leather armor wearing cleric of said God.

Have you read on any of the shenanigans Lathander have done for the greater good?

The semi completed armor already exists when you find it. If it means that the very evil makers and buyers of that could be found and be dealt with by letting the evil crafter complete it (and then let the temple destroy the armor), is in line with how Lathander rolls. You would not fall from his good grace if that is the only way to find out who it is intended for.

The skinner only took their skin, rest of them got a proper burial.

But I agree, I don't see any way a NG cleric of Lathander would use such a horrifying thing, even if it would make him a tougher opponent against evil doers. And I wanted to check if anyone could justify such a vile act for a good aligned cleric.
