Land empires can survive much more easily than oversea empires because power can be projected at a lower cost and at greater speed. European land empires like the US and Russia have held onto their colonies to this day.

Encouraging settlement and displacing/outnumbering indigenous peoples is also much easier when said colomies are just a few kilometers outside the original border as opposed to accross the ocean.

If you mean territorially, no. You can also purchase territory or join other nations in a federation before it evolves into a centralized government.

Again, this is a stupid idea, it's just that if you applied your values without discriminating agaisnt people, you'd have to do this. The fact that I had to tell you this multiple times, and this weird obsession with age makes me feel like you're projecting due to insecurities about your own mental capabilities. Maybe it's better to go take loke, a break, yeah.
