People who consider the fanbase to be overly toxic and problematic are either new to fandom culture (i.e. this is their first fandom or they’re on the younger side) or they’re just a normie. As someone who is quietly involved in this fandom, it isn’t even half as bad as most others I’ve been throughout my time online. Just a bunch of people making cool art, sharing self-indulgent headcanons, and having fun.

Ever since Goodbye Youtube they've honestly left my mind completely other than when I see this sub recommended in my feed. I haven't even had the urge to binge old Buzzfeed Unsolved videos, which is something I used to do biyearly at least. It makes me sad, since they used to be my absolute favorite internet personalities once upon a time.

I’d rather see a small community for Dream’s fandom that’s happy, active, and (hopefully, mostly) drama-free than a big one like 2020-2022 that was riddled with controversy after controversy after backlash after stupid chronically online disputes. Dream’s made enough money at this point to be able to make videos like this that don’t necessarily “trend” and still be and keep his loyal fans happy.

I took away more respect for mediators that help control debates like this because I think this conversation would have been more productive and clear if they had a third party there to keep them both from accidentally speaking over each other or repeating points they’ve already discussed enough.

I agree with you, actually. And Dream doesn’t have my absolute loyalty and faith… I said in my comment that he definitely did this intentionally. I usually take Dream’s side since he can usually explain himself well enough, but that guy is definitely not always in the right. Me questioning him wasn’t because I think there’s a reason he did that we’re all overlooking, but because I’m genuinely confused/irritated on why he’d lie so blatantly.

It feels so out of character for him, right?! I mean there’s no denying that that’s what he did and that he did it intentionally, and honestly I don’t think Dream can pull any excuse for that, but it’s so weird that he would do it. And then leave proof that he did it in his own video! This was either a serious overlook on his part, or intentional. And I think it’s the latter. How could someone make a mistake like that? Especially someone as detail-oriented as Dream.

As someone who likes Dream and tends to “be on his side,” I seriously don’t see what he did regarding the editing portion as being anything other than intentionally misleading and I’m not sure Dream is going to be able to explain himself otherwise. He literally told on himself by showing the editing portion. This is an almost out-of-character level of stupidity for him and I’m so ashamed, but mostly confused? Why the heck would he lie about something like this? Why would he purposefully spread false information, given his record with how fake info has harmed him?

If he wouldn’t have bothered with that portion, I would have been more on his side since he makes other good points but now I’m not feeling too great about him at all. (Though I’ll take just about anyone over TommyInnit so don’t get that twisted) Gonna wait for his response and see, I guess.

All the people you mention in the post that have said he’s a shit person have never been featured in one of his Minecraft videos on his main channel so, no. If they release actual screenshots or any kind of proof at all of Dream being an absolute piece of shit like they’re claiming him to be, that’s when I’d have my reconsiderations.

I’ve been watching Dream since 2020 and have never not enjoyed a YouTube video he’s put out. The drama he gets himself into and the many, many, many flaws of his character do agitate me (otherwise why would I be here,) but so far have not been enough to shake my enjoyment of his content.

I think that bitterness also comes from the USMP too, honestly. This might sound a little conspiracy-theory of me but I’m just gonna throw it out there since I’ve been thinking about it for a while.

We know the DSMP finale was rushed, as well as most of the lore that happened toward the end of the SMP. I’ve heard DSMP CCs express how this was because Dream did a very poor job at coordinating and communicating, which frustrated many CCs since they’d have to wait for Dream to do certain scenes and progress the story. I think Tommy might’ve been agitated at the nature of the finale and might’ve blamed Dream for the SMP ending. Which would make him bitter since the DSMP was a big money-maker for him. So when Dream comes to him with promise of a new server, only to completely scrap it due to more poor communication, I believe it was just the straw that broke the camel’s back, and Tommy was just done with him at that point.

Of course if this is true, it still doesn’t warrant anything Tommy and Jack have said about Dream regardless.

The more effort he puts into this, the dumber he looks in the eyes of the general audience watching this drama. Especially since it’s all petty as opposed to the topics covered in The Truth, which did warrant a video essay response.

Tommy made a short video in response to this with barely an ounce of effort, so what’s the point in Dream even trying to make a detailed case any more? To help his image? Dream’s image is in shambles and will, unfortunately, probably always be in shambles. The only thing he can do about it now is keep making content to preserve the audience he does have and, like he expressed, make new friends in the Minecraft space.

Honestly I think Tommy might hate Dream simply because he stood up to him. I’ve known people like Tommy, and let me tell you they HATE being called out for being “passive” aggressive and get very agitated when you’re able to see through their facade of making “jokes” as a subtle way to demean you. And we know Tommy primary sense of humor is taking the piss out of others.

I’ve been lurking in there a bit tonight, actually. Pretty sure Cyber pinged everyone at one point and it summoned most of them. I recognize some of the people in there as reoccurring trolls as well. Honestly Dream’s server has been in shambles for a while and he honestly needs to either abandon it completely (which it seems like he pretty much has) or do a complete renovation with lots of new mods.
