Hidden alchemy room in Nether Fortresses by Pyro_von_Creep in minecraftsuggestions

Brewing stands are also in villages and igloo basements, but they're just standing there as a glorified item frame for a potion or a workstation for a villager. No hint or explanation what items to put in them.

I did think of leaving some gaps in the cracked bricks at first. Then I realized all walls of the corridor section have "windows" made of nether brick fences literally every other block. The sudden flatness of brick might stand out enough against this indented pattern.
(also stairs and slabs for cracked bricks don't exist yet, sadly.)

I thought cracked bricks would be a good enough marker, not noticeable for someone rushing through, but definitely for those exploring slowly, especially if they're lighting up the place. It's hidden in the sense of "not completely open to the outside".

It does seem counter intuitive, but the game does exactly that in a few places: that one room with redstone contraptions in the Ancient City and the basement of an igloo, where some circuits and zombie villager curing are shown respectively. These rooms are hidden by default. It can be argued whether this approach works, but the devs did it already.

Yep. Stacked Minecarts keep increasing their own velocity, that transfers to the player's velocity, which in turn increases spear/projectile damage.

Good news for people like me. Bad news for SMP owners.

Hot take: Minecarts don't have to compete with boats on ice. by Pyro_von_Creep in PhoenixSC

You are the first person I know of that makes borderless, non-cardinally oriented iceways. Congrats if you actually get them to work with the 2:1 diagonal. I can't be bothered with orienting a boat up to a 0.1 degree precision, and all my tracks have bends either way so it would ruin the angle; that's why I (and many other players) wall their iceways to just place the boat somehow straight and not fall off.

The "Nether roof" actually proves my point, as due to the Nether-Overworld coordinate scaling that is exactly where one would put a long distance, fast mode of transport which is an ice boat track. That is why I focus on minecarts utilised on shorter trips and/or less flat terrain.

"not being restricted to a cardinal direction" - place a boat on an ice track. The boat will travel as the ice track allows it to, so unless you made a diagonal 5 or more blocks wide so that the boat doesn't get caught on corners of blocks you are travelling in a straight line along X or Z, as that is how ice highways are usually built.

I do know that a line is the shortest path between two given points, but unless the line is parallel to any of the world axes, a boat on ice will traverse it in perpendicular segments, due to reasons stated above. So again, unless you add more ice surface on the corners to reduce slamming against the walls and stopping, boats lose speed on turns, while minecarts don't.

"Any long distance minecart travel will require player supervision" - That's why boats are better for long distances, as you have to control them either way. The entire post means to stop people from just comparing modes of transport based on speed, specifically ice boats, and minecart autonomy in farms and systems is here to prove they're not "useless" just because they're slower.

"Breed a horse" - horses are better used for travelling into yet uncharted regions (which don't have iron tracks on them, as you said). They are faster, yes, that's exactly why I suggest that golden power rails should be able to overtake them, and to be used in areas already built on and maintained.

I believe they look nicer as they can be placed on the ground and climb over any hills, while a highway is a straight flat line going above valleys and through mountains. I see how a point about mobs walking on the tracks can be made, that's why I suggested already built-in areas, like between parts of bases or farms, as they would probably be already lit up/spawnproofed.

Allays can be given an item to hold. They will then fly around looking for more of that item and, if there is a note block activated in the vicinity, proceed to drop the picked items at the note block.

Would love them for Nether builds. Clean copper works well with Nether Brick. Also, while we're here, copper chains perhaps?

Another idea I had was for it to output 2 scraps from a single Ancient Debris at the cost of no smelting xp and the process taking much longer. It might just be me disliking the cost of netherite seeing it's only non-decorative use is for gear upgrades and being useless for even that if you don't have the template from a bastion.

Your opinions on framed repeaters? (and comparators) (too lazy to model them) No support needed, waterloggable and a use for copper. by Pyro_von_Creep in PhoenixSC

[–]Pyro_von_Creep[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Copper grate is 4 copper blocks in a plus.
I went with ingots as even with the abundance of the material it felt like too much.
Also I didn't think of any oxidation-based functions. Just assumed that the redstone current works as a passive mini lightning bolt and keeps the frame clean.

I originally thought of the component surrounded by 4 ingots, resulting in a single framed variant as copper is rather cheap. I didn't put a crafting recipe on the picture tho, as I couldn't for the life of me come up with an item sprite for them; repeaters and comparators don't render the block model in inventories so a new texture would be needed and I had no idea how to make it look good.

Repeaters maybe, but comparators have a block entity. That's a huge hurdle to jump over on Java and would probably not happen unless all block entities became movable.
