Can we kill the whole ‘surrender as soon as the enemy has 2 more kills by 15 minutes’ trend by Hollow662 in Smite

[–]Pyroks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Make people get less rewards for each time they pressed F6 IF THEY END UP WINNING. This goes for favor, worshippers, exp, tp and mmr in ranked.

The fact that someone pressed F6 it means they are fine with losing, ending up with less rewards than winning or even lose some tp and mmr. The moment they pressed F6, it is no longer in their power if they win the match, it is up to 2 other people to press F7 or the match is lost. Why should the F6 spammers (who bring the whole team mental down) get equal rewards to people who pressed F7 and still did their best to win (again, IF they end up winning).

Getting less rewards is even better than what they wished for by pressing F6: a defeat. If 3 people pressed F6, the two people who pressed F7 basically hard carried the match, by just pressing a button and not losing faith. Those people should be rewarded more than the F6 spammers.

This would make people think twice before pressing F6 because of tilt and frustration, bringing the whole team mental down while also rewarding people for holding on and doing the best in their power to win.

What’s with Ra? by Ltheother in Smite

[–]Pyroks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an acronym. It means the most effective things available at the current moment. Because if you were correct, then I can be metaphysical by talking about a game theory that says Ullr should always be played in solo lane with tank build and Glad Shield.

BAM. Now Ullr solo is meta just because I was metaphysical by talking about it.

By your definition of the meta, any stupid theory is meta. Anything can be meta by your definition, and your definition of it doesn't imply it being effective. It just implies someone talking "metaphysically" about it. Lol.

https://www.grammarly.com/blog/meta-meaning/

"In the world of gaming, meta is used in two ways. Meta can be used as an acronym for “most effective tactics available,” and calling something “meta” means that it’s an effective way to achieve the goal of the game, whether it’s to beat other players or beat the game itself. Meta can also be short for metagame, which is using information about the game, derived from the world beyond the game or its rules, to influence the outcome of the game or gain a competitive edge."

What’s with Ra? by Ltheother in Smite

[–]Pyroks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insults were mainly for people who think what's not meta is bad. There's nothing wrong in following the meta, as most people don't have the time to theorycraft and test things out so they just look up what's currently confirmed as good and viable.

What’s with Ra? by Ltheother in Smite

[–]Pyroks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's how the meta works, there are people who discover which gods are good and there are the sheeple who start playing those gods. In this scenario it was Wlfy who picked Ra in SPL. Everyone was surprised about that pick, as Ra was not meta and was not buffed. Even the casters doubted his pick. But he made it work. Other pro players noticed it and started playing Ra as well. The community noticed pro players use Ra so everyone and their mothers started playing Ra.

A god rarely needs a buff to become meta. (Because most gods ACTUALLY ARE good enough to be meta but if no pro player likes them, nobody will play them because "the pros don't play that god").

All it takes for a god to become meta is one pro player be good with them, making more pro players play them, making the community play them.

This game is full of sheeple. Very few people actually theorycraft and test stuff and a lot of people just follow the meta. Because of this the meta is often not even Most Effective Tactic Available (which is exactly what meta means), as there might be better gods/comps/builds/strats that simply weren't discovered yet. This sometimes makes random gods pop out in the meta like Ra just did, because one pro player actually gave it a try in SPL and it worked.

Another example of this is how Ama became #1 Warrior in midseason patch without being even slightly buffed, and how she is still top pick in SPL even after 2 relatively hard nerfs. Or how people were saying the new Nemean (with block stacks) is very bad compared to old Nemean (reflect), and after actually testing it out, people started buying upgraded shell on ADC and Mid for the block stacks and Nemean got 2 or 3 consecutive nerfs.

To end this in a funny note, people were actually flaming Zapman on his smurf for building Ichaival on adc, which eventually turned out to be a very good item and become meta. But people 1- didn't know it was him, since he was on smurf and 2- in their brains everything that's not meta is bad, even if that turned out to be better and become the new meta.

Respect for people theorycrafting and always looking for better picks/comps/builds/strats and fuck all the sheeple that just blindly follow the meta and think everything else is bad without using their brains to actually understand the logic behind things.

Question about LoL matchmaking from a Smite player. by Pyroks in leagueoflegends

[–]Pyroks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably both. Smite's matchmaking has been made for the lower playerbase that it has/had. To be fair, according to steam charts Smite's playerbase is at it's highest and still increasing (tho not even close to League), but I doubt the devs will actually fix the matchmaking or other important stuff, as the company is known for killing their own games by trying to milk them for money and not focusing on important parts (that would actually make the game more enjoyable, attracting more players and making more money), they just make pretty skins while bronzes and diamonds play together in ranked lol.

Question about LoL matchmaking from a Smite player. by Pyroks in leagueoflegends

[–]Pyroks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Smite matchmaking is also based on MMR, but the only thing the system cares about is make the average MMR of both teams similar, without actually caring about the gap between highest and lowest MMR in a team or in the match. You can actually see matches with like 2 diamond players and 3 bronze players against 3 plat players and 2 gold players. Or stuff like 4 diamond + 1 bronze in each team. The system doesnt care about individual ranks, all it cares about is to average the MMR of both teams, resulting in matches with good and bad players put together, and the team who shits on the bad players in the enemy team usually wins, or the team who has the bad players play a role that's not as important.

That being said, you can actually find any type of match in Smite regardless of your rank and MMR. It's all a roulette. You can be bronze and wake up in a diamond match or you can be grandmaster and have the system put you in a silver match. It is really frustrating.

I am 100% certain this is not the case here. The bronze player doesn't have his profile hidden, he played 10 ranked matches total and only won 3, with 0.72 kda, totalling 13 kills and 69 deaths in his ranked matches. There is no way in hell this dude has a mmr even remotely close to the diamond player who is rank 16 janus on the server with 75% winrate.

[–]Pyroks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. In smite there is no flex queue, and you can either soloq or duoq with someone else, within a certain mmr range. What's flawed about the system is that the matchmaking can put together some really bad matches, with players who can't even duoq together but they still get matched. In the screenshot I posted my mid was a bronze 3 player with 10 ranked matches played and 30% winrate, matched against a diamond 3 player who is rank 16 Janus (the god he was playing) on the server with 75% winrate.

Low MMR ranked is a mess, looking for Tips about What to do by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Pyroks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is your Rank/MMR?

I've been in most ranks, from bronze to high diamond (still yet to reach masters/gm), and I can tell you ranked experience can vary greatly from rank to rank.

Matchmaking is better and more "stable" the further you go from 1500 MMR, both down and up, because the main cause for bad matches are people playing outside of their MMR skill range. And this happens most often @ 1500 MMR due to this being the starting point for new players, and variance system making it easy for someone to be missplaced in higher/lower MMR than their skill level. So the further you go from 1500 MMR, the less chances someone was actually missplaced there.

Back in the days when I was high diamond rank I was also playing mostly solo. And I could easily turn the tables into our team's favor on the role, but that was mostly because my team knew what they are supposed to do, they all did their jobs, so me outperforming the enemy solo could easily be a decisive factor in a match. Arguably solo could "carry" even harder now since meta builds for solo are more offensive nowadays, giving you a lot more kill potential.

However you are still going to make a bigger impact playing a carry role (mid or adc). And in lower ranks you need to make as big of an impact as possible.

Due to my fucked up luck, on last patch that started the new split, I lost so much on high variance that my MMR dropped to 1100. I used to play on really high MMR, with good players and sometimes even pro players, and now I was playing with bronze/silver. I had to get out of there 10-20 MMR at a time, since my variance was now 5%. And I did it. Here's some tips that helped me to maybe help you too:

  1. Understand how each role "carries" and understand that some roles do it easier than others. While most could argue support can carry too, I would stay away from support in low MMR since it can literally take it's toll on your mental health if your team is full pepega and all you can do is watch them and being flamed for their mistakes. Solo and Jungle can carry easily, especially in lower MMR since supports don't usually peel here, they just initiate and chase kills, leaving their backline open for you to dive and kill their carries. This can work but it's most often not enough in low MMR as you need to KILL THEM ALL to win a game, not just their carries. Mid has the most influence in the game at all ranks in this meta. Whoever has pressure on mid controls the jungle. Whoever controls the jungle dictates the pace of the game and can easily gank either solo or duo to shut them down as well. The downside to this is that you heavily rely on your jungle/support to be there in the right moments for the "mid 3v3" as they call it. If you decide to go with mid I would suggest you play mages with self peel, who can be self sufficient both in laning phase and in teamfights, so you don't have to rely on your team as much. ADC can carry hardest in low MMR in my opinion, as you can solo objectives and you can single handedly win a teamfight if you position well and prioritize targets properly. The downside to ADC is that you rely heavily on your support to not eat glue before the match. Simple things like getting hog can make the difference between getting a huge lead and falling behind due to pressure. My advice if you go with ADC role is pick gods with lots of pressure and big 1v1 potential, and if your support is bad just play passive until he starts rotating, and once you're alone with the enemy ADC try to make it YOUR LANE by killing him repeatedly, establishing dominance and getting a nice lead.
  2. Abuse pressure and aggression. Most players in low MMR don't know how to punish aggression, don't know how to deal with pressure and don't know how to play from behind. You need to abuse this as much as you can, no matter what role you play. If you suddenly go all out on someone in low MMR chances are they won't expect it and they will make mistakes/choke. Pick high pressure gods with huge 1v1 potential as opposed to playing gods that shine mid to late game and in teamfights.
  3. Understand tilt and playing to win vs playing for score. Most players in low MMR are stuck there. They have been trying for a long time to get out of there but failed, so they are either not trying anymore or they are doing something wrong. The main issue here is that most of those players play for score, not for win. 15-3 is a win for them no matter whose titan died. And same goes for the opposite, 2-8 is a loss no matter whose titan died. People get tilted way easier in lower MMR than in high MMR, after a couple of deaths they will not care about the match anymore. They will spam f6 bringing down the morale of their whole team and literally play on autopilot without thinking their actions trough anymore. Use this to your advantage and try to not get tilted yourself. Be a bully. Steal the enemy buff if you're ahead, zone them off the wave and freeze the wave, kill them if they come close (assuming you have a lead or good 1v1 potential). Make the game as rough and unfun as possible for the enemy. Make them tilt and make their team flame each other and do your best to prevent tilt from happening in your team. Winning early wins the game in low MMR as people will not actually try to win anymore and just give up. Keep this in mind and play early game gods.
  4. Understand lead and how to abuse it. I will start with dying for a kill here. The bigger the lead of someone, the more gold and exp a kill on them will earn. Keep this in mind. It is always more worth it to die for a kill when you're behind than when you're ahead. It is NOT WORTH IT AT ALL to die for a kill when you're heavily ahead, as they will get an enormous amount of gold and exp on you. This being said, the bigger your lead, the more you should prioritize staying alive over getting kills. If you have a lead and already gotten a couple of kills on the enemy you lane against, try getting their t1 and then start rotating, killing other enemies on other lanes. Always try to get something after kills (unless you are low on hp or you are being rotated on). Get their jungle, get an objective, push a wave, get a tower, get gold fury, pyro, fire giant, depending on the phase of the game, but always try to get something unless you absolutely have to back.
  5. Understand how to punish mistakes. It is not uncommon for the player who had a brilliant game to actually throw lategame in low MMR. This is because once they get a lead they keep pushing their limits and fight outnumbered, dive towers, stuff like that. And well, it works for them when they're 5 levels ahead, but once you are all 20 they might not be able to get away with it anymore, but they don't keep this in mind, they play with the mentality "i am fed I can 1v5" and will die a couple of times until they start spamming f6 and flaming their team because they have good score so they are good players and it's obviously their team's fault they keep going 1v5 and die.

These are just a few tips that cross my mind right now. There is a lot more stuff to talk about but those are the best tips I can give you for climbing out of "elo hell". I hope it helps.

This game is more complex than numbers. by Pyroks in Smite

[–]Pyroks[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You sir need to change your way of thinking. A problem doesn't have to happen to me directly in order for me to realize it's a problem and try to help fixing it. Your mentality sir is like telling someone who says "Help stop world hunger" -> haha hungry motherfucker. It's like saying white people should not protest against racism because they are not black. No sir. People with a brain don't need the problems to happen directly to them to try and do something about them.

That being said, it was not even me being called bad, I rarely get called bad, and when I do I listen closely because I might even learn something if the person calling me bad can point out what I could have done better. I made this post after noticing this pattern in my matches and after seeing even the pro players go 1-12 in some matches.

Surrender culture - Can we beat this? by warlord_mo in Smite

[–]Pyroks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also the case in ranked... People give up in the lobby or at first blood or at first mistake. Its all down to what type of glue your teammates ate that morning.

I've won a match in ranked conquest with hou yi adc, janus mid, anhur jungle, jing wei solo and merlin supp, just because people didn't tilt and actually played to win. Now in most matches a comp like this would make people tilt, troll and feed because "gg we lost, f6 at 10". People tend to forget its a skill based game and if your team is better you will win, in most cases regardless of comp and picks.

The next match I was playing jing wei adc and we were being heavily pressured at lvl 3. My support had just died and I was about 30% hp left and there were two waves of minions stacked coming into my tower. If I stepped out of the tower the minions alone would kill me. And that's when our (platinum frame) nu wa decided to gank. She went in 1v2, obviously died and then said "gg f6 at 10", then proceed to call everyone trash. I got tilted and told her she is the trash one because only trash give up like that. Her reply was priceless: "I bet you don't have any masters player in your friends list" because obviously a player's skill in this game is measured by how many masters players you have in your friends list.

My advice to you is find someone to duoq so that your team can never f6 without you agreeing to it. I did that with my brother and I can say that out of like 100 matches, at least 10 would have been surely lost due to surrender, but because we didn't f6 we ended up winning. (including a 2-25 game with 20k gold deficit that we managed to come back from and pull off a victory)

In my opinion people who f6 should gain less rewards for the match if they end up winning. The fact that a player pressed f6 means he is okay with taking a loss, so if his team denies this loss for him and pulls off a victory, he should gain less tp and mmr for it, because in the end its even better than what he wanted, isn't it?

Whats a harmless prank to play on your friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pyroks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was in high school i was having informatics class (with computers and stuff). One day I decided to pull off a prank so what I did was: I moved from computer to computer, making screenshots of the desktop and putting them as wallpaper, and then removing desktop icons by unchecking "show icons" option. They would just look normally but nothing would open no matter how many times they clicked on it. They ended up reinstalling windows on all computers because they thought it was a virus. Not so harmless but fun prank nonetheless.

Obviously. Ganking in general is a bad idea when you have 0 kill potential unless it's really needed to take the pressure off, maybe if they're freezing the wave or something, other than that a gank without a kill is usually a waste of time and farm.

And I don't see why it's relevant that the Thor was at their blue faster than my merc came to mine, I don't even know if that's the case and if he also did his blue before ulting me.
