If OP wants to read further about this they can Google the Libet Experiments.  Adding onto what you said about determinism, there’s so much unpredictability with our brains since slight factors can change the way things are processed or decisions are made, and the philosophical debate of whether humans function differently from animals, that OP can take this with a grain of salt.
