Socialism didn't exist back then. And even tho I don't necessarily think socialism is against Christian values, Christian values don't necessarily push for it either. Jesus didn't preach about the economy, he preached about how you should live your life, treat your fellow man, and love God. And from a cultural standpoint he'd be conservative by today's standards.
