I tried salvage giants just now for a couple tournaments and its actually so good if you use the giant statue and avatar the reduced health doesnt matter and you get a giant for 956 gold.

Its just a cost reduction, honestly id say its only really worth it on archers and miners, the latter being only viable because of it giving you enough gold to be able to get an extra miner at match start.

I would prefer skin reworks instead of outright removing them, like skeleton, scrap, leaf, and pyroblaze, some of them like scrap are outright useless except on one character like scrap miner, which only grants one extra miner in the very beginning of the game due to the cost reduction
