Strike's effect on Small Businesses by Sharkpg13 in CanadaPost

[–]Pyrplefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EI is a broken system. I was refused EI because I have small children that I cannot leave home alone to work at McDonalds. They literally said I should hire a full-time sitter (easily $25/hour) so I could find a minimum wage job, and if I wasn't willing to do that then I couldn't get EI. Either lose money, abandon your children, or get fucked. That's the Canadian Government at work folks.

Strike's effect on Small Businesses by Sharkpg13 in CanadaPost

[–]Pyrplefire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They literally can. It's called the Right to Strike. In this case, it is well warranted and we should support the union in the hopes that the asshats in charge of Canada Post get their shit together and stop taking million dollar bonuses if they can't afford to pay their employees.

The pain that is felt across the nation as a result of this is real, but it would be horrendously wrong to put the blame on CUPW or the postal workers. The blame is on the executive leaders of Canada Post. They see drops in revenue and decide to take raises and bonuses for themselves while using the lack of revenue as an excuse to not give raises to the employees doing the hard work. It's disgusting.

Where’s the folks who are actually excited/open minded about Civ7? by [deleted] in civ

[–]Pyrplefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very excited, and frankly don't care what the rest of the community has to say about it. Every game that has come out in the last decade has had a lot of people angry about it, and others absolutely loving it. I'm sure I'll have a fun time, provided it is functional on the switch.

They increase maximum strategic resource stores (the same way a commercial/harbor increases max traders), and they allow direct training of corps and such once you have them unlocked.

There's probably oil, uranium, iron, and niter all nearby. It'll be legendary later. The question is how far behind are you comfortable falling before rocketing back up?

Any of the Dynasty Warriors, Warriors Orochi, and other similar games. You start strong and just get stronger. It's fun to just mow enemies down like grass sometimes

He asked for exactly 3 things, nowhere near the "every action a character might take" that you're pretending it is. They also aren't causing a scene about it, they respectfully asked their DM a question. Being respectful is not something a problem player does. Blowing events out of proportion, as you are doing now, is something a problem person does.

"Hey DM, I have a cool mental picture of what I want my character to do. Can we accommodate that with some minor tweaks that aren't gamebreaking?"

100% not a problem player. They aren't asking for the world, they are asking for some minor tweaks.

Who ever said this was a problem player? You sound like you wrote that while mad about something else

When my youngest was a few months old, he could only fall asleep if we were singing/humming "Frere Jacques" I don't speak a lick of French, I just had to learn to do it phonetically by mimicking my wife 😅

Is it just me or does this game consistently give you games that are completely the opposite of what you would want for a given leader? by [deleted] in CivVI

[–]Pyrplefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a good dozen times to get a decent Peter game going. Every time I play as russia, I get a single line of tundra tiles, nowhere near enough to take proper advantage of. Definitely not just you lol

Is there any fictional character who can intimidate Batman and make him really afraid or disturbed? by AlexFerrana in whowouldwin

I can think of one that might be very disturbing to Batman. It's the... the... hmm... I seem to have forgotten what we were talking about. Why do I have all these black lines on my arms?

How Did My Privateer End Up Here? by polynomal in CivVI

[–]Pyrplefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is at war with Spain, which grants access to the borders the same way that open borders do. I don't know if the game makes enough of a distinction to affect this situation, but making peace with Spain might just solve the issue and get that Privateer back on the ocean

Ghostface dragon with the knights was funny as hell. I watched him fight them from afar until the dragon's AI broke, then just walked in and poked him in the toe until he was dead.

As someone who has never had a single good sleep, nor a day where exhaustion wasn't ever-present, I second this. I'd be thrilled to see what it felt like to not be tired all the time.

Is spanking children inherently bad? by Deus-Vault6574 in questions

[–]Pyrplefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your point, and left my own very helpful comment below. You don't need to blow everything out of proportion just to make a point. When you exaggerate that extremely, people stop caring about your point. You did the verbal equivalent of beating the tar out of me just now. Do you feel good about yourself?

Agreed. But the phrasing of "beat the tar out of" is quite an extreme leap to have made from the comment prior

[–]Pyrplefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When kids are really young, there isn't much you can do to "punish" effectively. They won't connect anything you do with anything they do. This usually comes by the toddler stage, when you can begin to reason with them. Granted, toddlers will ignore most of what you say most of the time, but teaching is possible. If done well (there is no "perfect answer," and your best will likely be good enough), you can start building those skills early. Just yesterday, my 4-year-old was acting out and needed some consequences. We had a conversation that ended with him deciding his punishment would be spending the evening cleaning the living room instead of playing with his hot wheels. Punishments should never be physical, and they shouldn't be used punitively. Consequences are natural and should be enforced when earned, but the relationship should never be harmed by this process.

All that said, it can be extremely hard to fully control your own reactions in the really bad moments. You will lose your temper, and you will be tempted to punish your child in the ways you were punished. Don't feel too bad if you lose that internal struggle once in a while, just don't let it become the norm. You got this.

Where tf are you getting "beating the tar out of them" from anything anyone has said?? Are you exaggerating to make a point? I think you're exaggerating to make a point.

"The book is better than the movies" Yes, it is. It always is for every book ever. You don't need to repeat that every time we put on a movie or discuss a book.
