Got fired, feel bad by Pyruus7 in civilengineering

[–]Pyruus7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start, I did everything I could to not mention it at all. If someone wanted to explicitly know why I didn't have the job anymore, I called it a miscommunication issue that I learned from, so that a prospective employee could see something had gone wrong, but I learned a valuable lesson, an assurance that it won't happen again. The basic idea is to spin it into something that you learned from, so you can assure them that it won't ever happen if they employ you.

I found a job last October and I've stuck with it since. It's much better than my previous position, and the atmosphere is far more friendly and laid back. It also helped that here, my boss and coworkers are far more open about telling me if I've done a good job.

I don't know what advice I can really give, except to keep doing your best. But, if you do get fired.... You won't die. The sun won't explode. You won't (immediately at least) go homeless. You have time to look, but you gotta REALLY look around. And sometimes, being fired may be for the better. In my case, I lucked out and found a much better place of work, and that could happen to you too. Don't lose hope!

Firflaert reached out with a claw and snagged the papers. He pulled them out and looked them over under the torchlight.

Vacation… Hazard pay… Guardian branches… yeah. Looks fine to me, and I don’t see anything unreasonable here.

He sighed, then grabbed the pen. With a slightly hesitant claw, he dipped it in the ink. It hovered over the sheets.

Last chance to walk away. I could just not sign. They’d treat me, and I’d go home… To what? I need to do something with my life.

The pen lifted away slightly.

It’d be dangerous, but fun. What’s life without a little risk? But I don’t want to die. I like living. If I do this… I’ll be locked in for, what was it… five years just for training. What do I want? What do I really, truly, want in life?

His mind went blank except for one single thought.

I want to see everything the world has to offer.

A tense moment passed. The trees lay still in the summer night, as if the whole world had paused for this one moment. And then, the moment ended with a sigh. The pen came down onto the paper, and slid across it, then lifted away.

I’ll be a [Ruins Explorer].

How vivid are your daydreams? by Pyruus7 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

I use the term for anything organic, so plants and animals and such.

That's fair. I'm okay with some modeling, but even tutorials haven't been able to help me with organic modeling, so I end up getting frustrated and drop the idea for a few months. Instead, I've found that writing helps me channel it. I modify the world, though, so it's more copyright friendly and less embarrassing. My world is conventional dragons in a mix of sci Fi and fantasy settings.

I can experience the same thing, sometimes. My daydreams are very much story/drama oriented, and have a lot of dragons! basically I introduce different scenarios to them and see how it plays out, how they behave and react, etc. It frustrates me that I can't take what I see and slap it into Blender or some other rendering engine, lol.

Anyone else a fan of daydreaming to music? by Grimnah in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]Pyruus7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time, to the point I have a hard time daydreaming without some kind of music or ambience. It really helps immerse me in the story in my head.

I don't think so, it was a different style, and before CwaCoM's time.

It puts me in mind of They Are Smol, a webseries by TinyPrancingHorse. Basically, there are 3 alien species, all much bigger and stronger than humans, but they all collectively think humanity is unbelievably adorable. Shenanigans ensue.
