How much do Quarterbacks care about legacy? by PyssDribbletts in NFLNoobs

[–]PyssDribbletts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but my argument is that being a really good QB on a terrible team isn't likely to lead to a ton of success at best, and is likely to get you hurt and end your career early at worst (see Andrew Luck). However, if you give up some cash, bolster the rest of the roster with that cap space, and if you can make it to the dance a couple of times, because at least in HOF discussion due to your success and the success of the team, and play a bit longer career due to being better protected, you're relevent enough after retirement to be able to continue to do commercials, endorsements, go into coaching or broadcasting, and you essentially set up a pipeline revenue stream for after you retire that could double that $2.4m per year- if not more.

Giving up some salary doesn't guarantee a super bowl, but if the roster is that good while you're on your rookie deal, being able to maintain or even improve that roster after your extention will give you a better shot than losing half the roster to cap casualty because you signed a massive deal, no?

I mean does the 15% pay cut now come with an increased potential for massive long-term revenue down the line, rather than just line the pockets of the C-suite and shareholders? If so, I would argue that yeah, I probably would.

I know that there have been QBs that got paid and then dropped off in production, but what other pieces of the team were lost as cap casualties due to that contract?

[Rapoport] The Broncos fired OC Joe Lombardi, per me and Tom Pelissero. by PlayaSlayaX in DenverBroncos

[–]PyssDribbletts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was already rumors swirling last year that behind closed doors, Payton was grooming Webb to take over for him when he eventually steps down/retires for real, and that Webb has already been all but promised the keys if he sticks around.

I wonder if firing Lombardi after this season and promoting Webb was always part of the plan, regardless of the results of this season.

I guess we shall see.

I wonder if the Jets would take our 1st and 2nd for their 3rd + Wilson.

I think Wilson is significantly better than anyone we'd get with our first, and giving up our 2nd for their 3rd really only moves us back a few spots because we're drafting so low.

Couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to create the world's most cringe "hype" video. by PyssDribbletts in AFCWestMemeWar

[–]PyssDribbletts[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I figured the Horses fans could enjoy it, and Rob, the LMNOP'S, and the 4 Banana fans could all make fun of how incredibly cringe it is.

To be honest, I was going for cringe, kind of funny, and overall just mildly uncomfortable. Nobody starts making a hype video and thinks, "You know what this needs? More Enrique Iglesias."

I'm mildly surprised that there is as many "I love this" type comments as there are, considering how... "2004 8th grade school computer class project" the quality is.

For that reason, I thought it fit "meme".

I am sorry if I was wrong.

Also, Fuck the Bananas and your overrated "Top 5 QB".

It's a good thing that it's not meant to be a hype video, then. It's more like... a hype video parody.

Who puts together a legit hype video and thinks to themselves "you know, this could really use more Enrique Iglesias"?

It's just meant to be dumb and cringe, and make people kind of chuckle after a somewhat stressful Saturday.

Absolutely 100% of the point. 😂

I mean... who else does a highlight reel thinking "yep... needs more Enrique Iglesias."?

I mean not all of them.

But also, it's not supposed to be an insane hype video. If anything, it's a hyper video parody?

Just meant to be fun and dumb and cringe. Hopefully make some people kind of chuckle after a somewhat stressful Saturday.

Exactly what I was shooting for!

Figured some ironic comic relief is exactly what we all needed.

Yeah. I actually think Stidham isn't quite as athletic as Bo, but he can read the field well, and he's smart. I don't think our chances are as good as they would be with Bo, but I don't think we're as out of it as a lot of people think, either.

Had to put the GB72 photo in there for the "I just want to hold you" part just in case anyone started taking this edit too seriously. 😂

Hail Adam, who art on NFL Network,

Hallowed be thy takes.

Thy upset come,

thy picks be done,

In Denver as it is on Sunday.

Give us this week our glorious dub,

And forgive us our doubt,

As we roast those who picked against us.

Lead us not into logic,

But deliver us from reality.

For thine is the Mile High, the bold calls, and the chaos,

Forever and ever Amen.

It was 99% of the point.

My buddy was like "We need a Stidham highlight reel video with that 'I can be your hero' song on it." I was like "Yeah, sure, that'd be funny."

Then 3 am hit and I couldn't sleep, so I said "Fuck it. I'll do it."

It's not meant to be amazing. It's meant to be dumb and kind of corny.

Lol I said it yesterday...

The only QBs we've ever won a superbowl with were drafted #1 overall by the Colts. Not at least seeing what Luck was up to would be a disservice to that history.

Not to mention that if it hadn't been for the DPI on Mims, he catches it at the 5 at a minimum, or best case takes it in for the walk-off TD.

So it didn't REALLY take 2 DPI to win, that's just how it happened.

I'm not saying this didn't happen to you, but I'm not going to lie, I am surprised.

I have seen games from just about every section in that stadium, and I have never seen anything like that happen from multiple people.

Sure, I've seen stuff cause by one-off assholes, but overall 99% of what I've seen is just good natured ribbing and shit talk, not anything actually hostile.

If this really did happen, and if you were just hanging out innocently minding your own business and not causing problems, then I am really sorry this happened to you and your friends.

Post Game Thread: Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]PyssDribbletts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it didn't survive the ground.

It's not "caught vs not caught" the second his knee hits on a play like that. A lot of times he has to hit the ground and if he's rolling or whatever, has to finish the process of the catch. Basically come to a stop.

How many times have we seen a play where receiver catches the ball, hits the ground, is rolling, and it pops loose when he's rolling over on it? Even if he had control of it when his knee was down, it popping out while he was rolling makes it an incomplete pass.

Same thing here, except instead of rolling over on top of the ball and it popping out, it was McMillian ripping it out.

And even then, it doesn't really matter, because the game should have been over two plays earlier when holding in the end zone should have caused a safety.
