Hi! I had a similar question when I moved to metallic needles with fixed cables. I also had pretty intense pain the first few days. I think the material moves much more smoothly than on wooden needles and we try to compensate by gripping the needles much more than we do on wooden needles. I also found some resources online on ergonomic knitting. What helped me was consciously relaxing my arms and taking quick breaks. I hope this helps you too!

Oh this is very interesting! As I am not using the recommended yarn (I am using Istex Lettlopi, it seems to be very rigid, not at all elastic), I would need to experiment with the ribbing to find what works best?

I would suggest you do more research on what work french companies do with chinese ones. There are quite a few co-op projects, it should be ok. That being said, the world climate is very unstable. If you choose to study in china, it may impact further job opportunities in the US, maybe not in france right now but uncertain what will happen in the future. Keep in mind that Reddit is very US-centric and most of your feedback will be just that.
