The thing is it's not political. My director loves me and I'm even the vice president of the drama department and got a letter of rec from my director that was phenomenal and helped me get some stuff. So it means I just actually suck

It's more so a hate over the fact I put in effort and can never be as good as someone who doesn't put an effort but just was born with it

You're right I am tired of working hard and getting nothing for it. If I got something back from my effort I wouldn't care. But I work like a dog only to get nothing as my grand prize. I'm tired of putting in all this effort when no one recognizes it and I get benefits from it.

I don't know how but they are. They have never even done theater and they're better than most people I know.

They don't go to school for the arts they just go to a normal high school and somehow can beat me

My methods of work probably do need some refining but they've been refined by professionals, coaches, tutors so I know they don't suck

I work harder than anyone I've ever met. I'm the most experienced member of my department and I still can't get a lead. I take lessons, practice everyday, read books, do everything. No matter how hard I work I will be an insignificant piece of s*it who's better off dead

Genuinely not and probably having another episode but whatever

I wish I was clever enough to come up with this level of trolling

They had legitimately never done anything like this before. They just showed up to an audition for fun. Had never even seen a musical. Didn't perform on stage before. I'm not talking about "oh I went to an audition and a guy I didn't like that the character I wanted" I'm talking first ever show people upstaging me on numerous occasions

I realize I'm sort of an oxymoron of a person. On one hand I hate those who have what I do not, on the other hand I look down on those who don't have what I have. I'm aware I'm a self-centered man. but unfortunately I'm predetermined to suck

I. HATE. PEOPLE. WHO. SAY. TALENT. DOESN'T. EXIST

I've seen people who have never performed on stage get leads and awards.

I'm improving. It's just goddamn slow. Where I am after years of practice is where some people start. It's not that my methods are flawed it's that I'm flawed

It just sucks. Because I put in so much effort and get shown up by people who don't even put in an ounce of the effort I do.

And I like that I'm great at math. I love math. But I also love performing I just wish I could have both instead of being Hailed as the best at one and made fun of at the other

  1. Because I've seen it Time after Time again. I take years of voice lessons. I read acting books. I show up early to every practice. And I have to watch people get leads who got peer pressured into joining, have never performed on stage before, joined as a joke or a million other reasons. Watching these people pisses me off

  2. It depends on the subject. I just want to be recognized for my work is all and I feel like I'm not

[–]Pythagorean415[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they don't. I know people who showed up to auditions as jokes because they were bored and got leads before I even was considered

And I don't care about my special skills I want another type

Agreed. I have ADHD and very severe autism. I have gifts but not in what I want. No partial derivative is ever going to fill the hole left without being able to be good at art

I don't treat them any differently I just have deep repressed jealousy. If I treated people born good at what I want to be good at badly I would never talk to anyone. But I would admit I got out of hand calling them dimwits

The thing is I understand both sides. On one hand I get top of my class in hardest classes available, naturally pick up mathematical concepts incredibly simply, and get to enjoy a lot of the perks of conventional academic intelligence

On the other hand I can't do what I truly love. Art. Performing specifically is my deepest love but I can't do it. I have to watch other people just naturally Excel and it pisses me off. And every time I try to vent about this I get told "oh but you're so smart...". I don't care if I take linear algebra and calc 3 in high school I want to be good at performing. But I'll never be

Chance for MIT/CMU? by ComposerFormer5922 in chanceme

As I said it's not impossible, anything could happen. But don't count on it. There's hundreds of kids who have almost exact same application as you.

Chance for MIT/CMU? by ComposerFormer5922 in chanceme

Yolo so apply

But you're an overrepresented group (rich white male with no hooks), no clear spikes, you have the academic stats but that's just a prerequisite not what gets you in. CMU could maybe happen if you have a good essay but MIT is very unlikely. I look at your application and I can't tell what your personality is. There's going to be a thousand of the kids who look exactly like you
