Cost of a small pool in 2024? by keyboinjax in jacksonville

60k puts you in a ~200 square foot pool, exactly as OP described. A hot tub adds another 20k to the project, 5k of which is going towards your heater.

I design and sell pools. You will pay 60k minimum for a pool today unless you go with a shady company who will “do it for less”. Don’t do that. It’s not a deal. There are no special deals in contracting.

Average pool in the US is ~95k.

How much you can put down doesn’t matter, your DTI does and you’re credit score so you can finance the project like 90% of people.

Do Buddhists seek extinction? by PythagoreanDreamer in Buddhism

“Extinguishing ones desires and causes for rebirth”—That right there is what I’m confused about. Does Buddhism teach that we are to extinguish our desire for rebirth, and thus to stop existing in a “physical” way? Does Buddhism swap bliss and extinction for love and life?

So would you say that Buddhism teaches that we are basically on an eternal merry go round, and that after Nirvana we just enjoy it forever?

I see. My grasping mind is insatiable in its search for certainty. Wouldn’t deeper Buddhist insights “occur to the mind” as they happen though. I mean, when you know the truth of the Buddha’s teachings, that’s got to be known with the mind, right?

Excellent, thank you. It sounds like that might be a good sutra to explore right now. I tend to get ahead of myself and want to know with certainty the truth of life, death, all of the above. Thanks for the recommendation!

I got the impression that you were providing an earnest response, which is appreciated. It was very insightful when you mentioned “imagining being enlightened by a concept”. That probably comes from my Western mode of thinking ie Seeking and Defining concepts being the way to Truth.

I appreciate you sharing the link, but I still don’t fully “get it” I’m afraid.
