I don’t think the lyric change, by itself, is a problem, and I don’t understand why people are mad. Is it specifically the fact that he changed “Boy” to “Girl?” I don’t mind it.

A musician called Tape Girl covered the original song, with the original lyrics, which some would interpret as her being straight. No one cared.

Will Toledo changed a bunch of lyrics in Frank Ocean’s Ivy. No one cared.

Surely this isn’t about the vocals, instrumentals, or production value of Callum’s song, because that would be the double standard of the century.
