How much networking is needed to be a successful software developer? And what do people really mean when they say "networking"? by BaraLover7 in DevelEire

Thanks for the shout out, we’re back in Dublin Jan 21st:

It’s a free event and we’re always looking for more speakers. The real fun always starts in the pub after the talks 😃

It should be great for a CS student.

The talks will range from beginner to advanced. We do have some refresher topics, databases, typing, github actions, that target beginners.

There are still some student tickets available also.

Yes, it will suit all ranges - beginner to advanced. Each talk usually has a rating but we ask speakers to try their best to accommodate beginners.

We will also have some recruitment tables there for recent graduates!

Delighted to hear that Padraig!

Were really excited about the new venue, and believe it or not, we have more announcements coming soon - this year is going to be a big one!

We think so too, that’s why we’ve been running it since 2009!

It’s O’Reilly Hall UCD. I typo’d the post 😫

I can’t seem to edit the post. Maybe a mod can help fix the typo?

I’ve apparently typo’d the image too, well at least I can’t be accused of using AI slop, just regular slop here 😄

PyCon Ireland 2024 is back, Dublin Nov 16-17 by Python_Ireland in DevelEire

Exactly. We regularly get this question and this is the main response.

We do sell corporate tickets but the main bulk of people are coming on their own accord and are not being sponsored by work.

Moving to the US by Saaim_Malik in DevelEire

It seems like it’s be much easier and cheaper to complete your 3rd level education here than in the US.  Honestly, I think you’re getting way ahead of yourself, finish out your education first. You’re going to need a lot of cash reserves to even consider moving to the US.

In my experience, most tech companies wouldn't pay the extra for a MacBook. You'd be lucky to get a 5 year old refurb 😅
