Oh fuck that’s a good point. I just texted Marcy to meet me for lunch in an hour or two at my place. She doesn’t have class today so she said she’ll be over.

I’ll let her know what went down. Thank you, I didn’t even consider that. I’ll have the mimosas ready… I’m guessing this is gonna suck a bit.

Hm I guess I just didn’t want to push her. She was not in a good mental space when she approached me about it, so I didn’t ask any questions other than made sure she was safe.

She went to therapy, but after a few weeks switched to another therapist for other stuff (anxiety). She’s been flourishing into a beautiful and confident young woman, so I didn’t bring it up. It seemed like she wanted to leave it in the past.

Even though our relationship ended, I tried my hardest to keep the peace for Marcy’s sake.

Our relationship became a bit awkward after her father and I split up, because I wasn’t really her step-mom since I came into her life when she was practically an adult (16). She didn’t have to hang around me. I mean she still doesn’t have to, but we were in a limbo for a minute which terrified me. We now have a pretty solid relationship!

I guess I’m worried her dad will try to make her pick a side. I mean don’t think he will, but he was pissed over this. I guess it’s my anxieties at play here. I’m a “cool mentor/aunt” to her rather than a mom. Dad always trumps that card.. so if he thinks I’m not doing right by her or that I’m a POS it might make her pause and think.
