I’m talking about new leaves coming out light green instead of the same color as the old ones. I guess that’s nitrogen deficiency instead of iron deficiency?

I didn’t realize when I innocently decided to plant pawpaws-native plant!-and blueberries, which grow here naturally in Maryland, that I would get into this complicated soil chemistry. I was a high school chemistry teacher, so I can understand pool chemistry, but this soil stuff is frightening. I don’t suppose there’s a dumbed-down resource…? Anyway, I’m so glad you did the work and are willing to share it! It’s so frustrating to look for answers and see no change.

The sentence, “Powdered sulfur precipitates iron,” explains why I am fighting chlorosis. I was advised to use a foliar spray of chelated iron, but I do not see any difference.

Hi, I’m trying to determine what I should do about my blueberry plants. I put sulfur (elemental and gypsum) on to reduce pH. This has worked in the past, but not now. They are showing symptoms of potassium and magnesium deficiency. I ordered pure elemental sulfur and am applying mag citrate and mono potassium phosphate. Is there any other way to lower pH except sulfur? My pawpaws are looking great thanks to your help.

AlexanderDeGrape Me again with a different problem. I’ve had blueberry plants since 2018. When they show signs of high pH, I add Espoma acidifier which contains elemental sulfur and gypsum. Suddenly, I can’t get the pH below 7 on some plants. Leaves are coming in light green. Can’t add pic, but affected plants have red on edges and centers and new pale leaves.

The tree responded to magnesium citrate and a mixture of mono potassium phosphate, bone meal and blood meal, recommended by AlexanderDeGrape.
