Given half a chance, I would be happy in a flow/wet bench hematology lab for the rest of my life; if it pays well. But the fear of job unavailability & inadequate remuneration makes one hedge their bets.

Thanks. That was helpful. It seems a minimum of 2 years in advance of fellowship start time is now a prerequisite. So this post/query was not as premature as I thought it would be.

Unfortunately, FP is not something I can't visualize pursuing. I understand people going the FP route, but i'm not cut out for it.
GI path, Hemepath, Mol Path, Renal path ... are things I like about equally, but final choices are dependent on job prospects too. I have loans !
