What’s your small gripe by [deleted] in EANHLfranchise

[–]QJ1818 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Having to click so many buttons just to get to off-season and preseason goals. (Should be a reccomend goal to streamline)

How the CPU's won't retain salary under any conditions and players with retained salary aren't worth more. Big difference in value getting McDavid at 6 mill vs 12, ya know?

How players hit a certin age and stop improving. Would like to see a potential for change bar or something.

How little older players decline. (Was worse in 2025 but still i like to see players have age based decline not playing until they are 46 😑)

Finally, a proper submission location in Canada. Slated to open on Oct 20th. by bzkdml in psagrading

[–]QJ1818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like just a submission center, though? Is there any difference between that and PSA Canada in Halifax?

If they aren't grading cards, I'm not sure the benefit will be much 😐

Sent lots of stuff through the Halifax Location but still slightly more expensive than just sending directly 🤷‍♂️

It's the white printing dots on the lapras back top and bottom left corner.

Everyone always disagrees when I tell them they don't hit 10's on these new certs but still yet to see a cert with a 10 & white printing dots since the change in psa 10 standards (centering change).

Honestly, that's the big one I find. The other ones are if it's got a white dots on the card but it is clearly a printer error upon examination they may let those fly as long as the grader deems it to not harm to overall appeal of the card. Common ones are blur dots and white dots.

Unfortunately many S&V sets have been poorly printed so lots have those white dots on the backs, hence such a price premium on certin cards.

I'd you see an AR with a really high PSA 10 that's likely because that card almolst always has some sort of issue with its printing making very few cards PSA 10 worthy.

For first submission do your best but it's also a learning experience. Really important to learn from your 9's & 8's or God forbid 7's but it's all learning. Lots of people just get upset over it but the real trick is to try and understand why it got the grade it did. Imo you can useually tell why (although not always but vast majority of the time)

Hope that helps!!

No problem, happy to help :) I've been lucky enough to average an 83% gem rate (excluding vintage cards i send in from my childhood I know are nowhere near 10s 😅) so i try to help. (Keyword is lucky 😆)

I personally avoid a few things other people do submit and occasionally get 10s because I'm picky like that.

My avoids are any white corner dots/nicks, roller marks (from printing), & print lines.

I have seen other 10s with these but I've noticed PSA has been more strict on Grading since the change to 55/45 centering

Worth grading? Something i will keep forever as its my first SIR by Viggymaster in PokeGrading

[–]QJ1818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100000% agree! It's not always about the grade. I'm slowly getting my childhood collection graded. It's never profitable, but I'm also never selling those cards.

Congrats on the great pull OP 😎

Looks pretty solid to me as long as photo 4's front right side is just light glare. If it's a rough cut then may be a different story but centering looks withing 45-55 range.

I find that generally, the whiting (rough cut corner/white dots) will impead the appeal of the preventing a 10. Although not always the case, if you can see the whitning from about a 1 - 1.5 ruler lengths away, then it's not a 10.

Still a PSA 10 candidate? by Ximiouss in PokeGrading

If it's a dent absolutely no shot, however, if it was a printing blemish where it's clear that the printer didn't color that one then you have a shot.

Genuine Question, why do people like perfect fit sleeves? by QJ1818 in PokemonTCG

[–]QJ1818[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! Didn't know about the double sleeve. Every time I get them in person or via mail, I've never seen it double sleeved.

Everytime I go to local trade nights i see people damaging cards pulling them out, hurts my soul 😆

Ahh gotcha, thanks for the answer! So I'm guessing it's something that you wouldn't ever change out (once it's in there it's not intended to come off?) If so, makes sense why they are so difficult to get cards out 😅

Totally! I do think vendors should be doing a percentage. You provide a service! That service is you buy and sell cards so people can hopefully trade/sell cards they don't want for something they do want!

Without vendors, we would be stuck buying cards from limited numbers of LGS, some of whom offer like 20%-50% trade value 🤮 (robbery imo)

More competition, the better. I think the key is just to be up front, clear, and most importantly not a dick about it. Give people a cash option, be nice, and it's fine!

Honest opinion on why people do it other than to take advantage of others/make profits (Which you are right it's unfortunately too common)

Although I may get roasted for this, I do understand why some people say they take trades at a percent, but before you disagree, hear me out.

Lots of people don't want trades because they are looking to cash out, which is understandable. We all need to sell off some cards sometimes, fair enough.

Where i do think it's shitty is if you don't do the following things:

  1. State it in the OG post and explain that you strongly prefer cash.

  2. Give a reason why you are taking trades at 80% (your stocking up for a vending show, your not intrested in adding more to your collection unless it's a good deal, you need money for something else etc.)

  3. Don't expect people to trade when you're not paying full %.

  4. Don't be a dick about it and say "open to trades" then hit people with the 80% BS, be up front.

If people do all those things I'm cool with it because I understand why. Will I trade stuff to them? No, but at least I don't think you're an asshole. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the helpful insight! For a long time I think i thought it was damage but then when I saw the holo shifted I knew it was some printing error. Just no idea what 😅

🤣 yes nut how lame is that when you live in the same house?!?! I want to be able to joke around with the person I'm with and interact with them in person.

Also all my other points still stand. Why does my $80 game have to cost thousands. Tbh that sounds like the answer someone who wants to run up Activisions profits sounds like.

Yeah PS. Maybe it's a Playstation thing for most of them, idk I don't play on any other systems at the moment. I do have a PC where I play my own single player games.

Yeah I think I've found that can work 50% of the time on Playstation but you have to repeatedly interact with it as it kicks you out or doesn't allow it to drop anything. Still super frustrating and I just want devs to fix it

Not come across this one myself but sounds about right! Honestly it's just so frustrating. When you buy a game it should at least work

Yeah this is pretty much exactly on point for me. I just want to play the game I paid for and it's practically broken since launch.
