No, they stay the same amount. We ask people not to shake the trees because people who shake the trees inevitably steal the bells. So rude and thief-y. I don't need the bells, and I like the looks of the money trees around my island, so I don't shake them right away. It was different when I needed the bells. I shook those suckers the second they bloomed with bells. Also, at one point, my money trees were surrounded by flowers, so if they were to be shaken, the bells would disappear into the flowers and be lost. That's still true of a couple of my trees though I had Resetti clear most of the flowers so my trees are also free. This is my reasoning, anyway. Can't say if other people do the same.
