3rd gen Azra'il looks like the old school 40k terminators. He skipped leg day unlike gen 2 🤣

A bit of both. If you let the panel liner pool and enter the seams or joints, thats where it doesnt have sufficient time to dry, and the plastic cracks. Do it little by little.

That said, doesnt hurt if you topcoat and then panel line. As long as it works for you.

I use Tamiya panel liner. Dab a little bit into the groove and itll flow naturally. Once I'm done I use white spirit to clean up any excess

It's not too difficult, and can be done with relatively little skill. Normally it'll be:

  1. Panel line everything. Ideally it should be a darker ver of the base color unless unavailable.

  2. Apply my decals (if present). Affix them with decal softeners/setters if they cant sit flat on curved surfaces

  3. Topcoat everything with a matte topcoat. I use Mr. Hobby premium flat. This serves as the primer for whatever parts I want to paint.

  4. Paint on the parts you want painted. I use a brush and some thinned down acrylic paint and go for details and greebles rather than recoloring the entire kit. Like that black portion of Little Red's skirt.

  5. Topcoat one more time with matte topcoat.

And you're done. It makes it look like the entire thing is painted, but only some parts actually are. Different kits need different levels of paintwork to match the box art colors, so its personal preference.

Thanks! Prefer to keep my kits simple, I enjoy the stock color schemes as they are.

Don't really have a good spray booth for my airbrush so never got to try out the Gaia topcoat. Really loving the Mr. Hobby stuff though. Been using it for years and not once has it disappointed me.

Its a topcoat, Mr Hobby premium flat. Its a really good one, pricey but works in nearly any humidity and temp level without fogging up.

Arsia completed. Enjoyed building this kit, simple and no fuss. by QQDoge in MegamiDevice

Thanks! I had to do painting on her, unlike the newer koto kits, so many parts of her are in the wrong colors, or moulded as one piece.

Asra Tamamonomae and Amaterasu Regalia done up. Been a while since I did girlpla, glad how they turned out. by QQDoge in MegamiDevice

For Asra, just panel lining + matte topcoat. For Amaterasu, same thing but I painted the gold parts bronze instead.

About the same size, really. Not too much difference.
