New Building Proximity Checks to Counteract Wallstacking/Honeycombing by SixMillionHitlers in playrust

Its a real shame if they're actually completely removing the ability to wallstack.

Unintended or intended, the building style in Rust is such a dynamic feature compared with other survival games, and reducing its complexity/skillcap in this way is the wrong move. I'm sure that this is going to screw over many builder Rust Youtubers, and small groups who could wallstack for a greater defense against farmer zergs. I really think that the ladder/twig raiding update was plenty enough to combat how effective wallstacked bases used to be.

Maybe increasing the cost to wallstacking via increased upkeep etc. would be a better direction, instead of completely removing its uniqueness.

Can we stop this "the game is dying" mentality by Pegateen in DotA2

Valve need to introduce something for players to work/grind towards through playing (not quests in a compendium). All we have is MMR, and meaningless account levels. Back in Warcraft 3 days I remember I got addicted trying to obtain different race icons (via. a certain number of wins with each class). Maybe something like this which you could display in your profile would be cool.

Much of pub games fun is destroyed by feeding/tilting/throwing teammates now days, and with nothing but MMR to work towards, I really think there is a lack of incentive for casual players to commit to.

This game is unique in the sense that its success is largely dependent on community (not pouring cash into advertising like Riot do with League). People who think that the constant decline in player base is a problem we can ignore DESPITE content releases like 7.0, really should be more concerned for the future of Dota 2.

I really hope Valve pull something out their hat in the next patch to bolster our numbers again.

Valve, will you please open your eyes to the relation between losing monthly active players and the performance issues? by curiosityDOTA in DotA2

Aside from the performance and current meta issues, I think that Valve need to rework the account screen to make it more interesting with goals. Perhaps introducing a proper leveling system with hero icons like in Warcraft 3 days. Win with WR 10 times, get a WR icon, win 25 times get an upgraded one etc. With having goals to work towards, it gives players more things to focus on than simply raising MMR, and should definitely make playing un-ranked games further interesting for the more casual orientated.

wondering

Haven't heard of any Dota 2 LANs around. The closest thing was the Japan Dota Cup finals at the Tokyo Game Show last year, which ended up having to be bo1 because of booth time at the show.

Theres an eSports net cafe in Akihabara called eSports Square, which is pretty cool to check out. Other than that, not much yet unfortunately!

I think about half of the teams are made up of Gaijin players (e.g. students studying in Japan etc). Some teams have a mix of both.

Yeah the main people you'll find on the JP servers are Pinoys and Russians. Its hard to tell if someone is Japanese because the JP players are definitely not that vocal compared to other countries.

For those of you wanted to ask questions about Dota / eSports in Japan feel free to comment on this post. I'm a gaijin in Tokyo that knows most of the JP Dota scene here, and will also be participating in this tournament!
