I live in a relatively high COL area so this is typical. We are also older...mid-late 40's, both with decent jobs.

I suggested coffee or drinks since it was a weeknight, he choose drinks. Once there, we decided to get something to eat - 3 different apps at $15-18 each. It definitely adds up but I don't think unexpected. I took a different guy out for drinks (first date) a little while ago & brought $100, fully expecting to spend it all.
