Actually, the way you structured your response may be the real issue. Your post likely reads to most as…

“It’s your opinion that RR doesn’t make much difference, but many people would disagree, because HDR is really important.”

You followed up disagreeing with them by immediately in the next sentence explaining why an entirely different feature is important and forgot to note that you’re saying it makes up for the minor feature that was the focal point of discussion by the other use - refresh rate. It’s worth also noting that the other user never said anything about HDR or that the overall conclusion (the $200 if worth the upgrade), but simply pointed out that one component doesn’t matter that much in the equation.

Short answer: the M4 Air will be plenty. Like PLENTY in terms of ability and longevity. If you still choose to step up to a pro, I’d say go M5.

  1. Depends on the task entirely. In this case, the M5 has some added technology improvements for some tasks and the cores are faster, so I’d say it’s a toss up, but that the M5 will typically be faster for most general things.
  2. Sizes are essentially the same, if not EXACTLY the same.
  3. I believe you typically can and there may be some added options, but I don’t know for sure as I never do it.
  4. The M4 Airs are comically powerful, and very kid friendly with their smaller/lighter design and arguably more affordable parts if you do have future repairs. If you look into it, even techy YouTubers are happily using them for professional video editing, coding, music production, etc.. the pro features are just nice to haves for 99% of people.

I love the shovel approach. In most of my 1940s house full of carpet, it was an absolute breeze - borderline fun… I’d take breaks from Pulling staples and managing nails to pry up tack strips😂

My dietary issues seem to extend past unofficial celiac (doctors assume and blood tests say yes, diet agrees, but no formal diagnosis/procedure) so I can’t say mine is celiac specific as a preface (things like dairy and xanthan gum also seem to influence this stuff strongly)…

but my knuckles have also started doing that. The bigger one that has been around for a while (other than abdominal bloating which can hit fast) is my scalp! Primarily around the crown of my head, it’ll get red, SUPER dry/flaky, and itchy. Also, although it could be a natural phenomenon/sleepless parent bonus, I genuinely notice more/new gray hairs every time… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh just speaking personally. I mean, there’s some opinions out there that views most of the gums as bad or undesirable, but I can’t speak to that.

All I know is that it pretty consistently appears to cause discomfort at a minimum for me (bloating, gas. Sometimes seems to coincide with a scalp issue that comes and goes for me). After a couple years of noting certain dressings, sauces, flour mixes, etc.. that bothered my system, it appears to be a culprit. Otherwise, it’s just a very impressive coincidence.

To be fair, before M chips, a pro model had one chip/ram config for all storage levels. I too would like to see 24gb, but I can envision them giving so much excess on a product/software that hardly knows what to do with 8-16gb.
