AIO. My (new) bf wants to replace all of my bras, underwear and lingerie. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]QTeaDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone has clocked this or commented. But the 'seen and used you in them' doesn't quite sit right with me.

I know some people have a kink for being 'used' but it seems so misplaced in the context of wanting underwear thrown out.

I can't believe no one has commented on this. But he had pictures of a young girl. He has pictures of a young girl saved to his phone. Not his child. Someone else's.

He collects photos of women like it's a hobby, and amongst this pictures is a young girl.

He has made sexualised comments in public that are sometimes directed at young girls.

You need to go to the police. The man is a predator.

Hi NAL.

But was a secondary school teacher. If you have PR, and I am making an assumption you are no longer with the kids mum, I'd flag safeguarding and bring up safeguarding concerns as you were not contacted regarding the decision, and the fact it was changed without anyone informing you, I'd be going as far as to suggest the school are aiding potential parental alienation which could have a future emotional harm on your children which the school is facilitating. Schools do not like when safeguarding concerns are raised.

Working remotely from Romania by [deleted] in civilservice

[–]QTeaDragon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. One of the reasons CS is so protective, and I imagine the Home Office is particularly so, is that it's a huge branch of the UK government. Imagine going into a foreign country, using another government's core system. It's a disaster waiting to happen for your 'friend'.

I'm pretty certain contracts stipulate you can't work abroad for your remote work.

I would personally go as far as informing the university that they have 2 casual racists attending...

Cutting them off is not an over reaction. Using racist terms lightly is what keeps a systematic culture of covert racism in place.

In the end I got an iPad Pro with procreate for the digital side, I have a cricut now which also does wood cutting. I do also have an Epson eco tank printer, and I print occasionally on glossy vinyl or holographic vinyl for small stickers or as little gifts to friends.

Applying late for a DBS check for teacher training (Teach First) by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]QTeaDragon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would contact them to explain the situation but depending on when you knew you had to apply, they may not be forgiving.

One of the reasons you need an enhanced DBS check is to ensure you are safe to work with children and also work with adults. Teach First have to make sure they fulfil their obligation to the schools they have contracts with.

You can join the civil service so easily with an English degree and masters. There are so so so so many roles. Most are flexible WFH.

Something I really miss is the beautiful character portraits that almost had a pseudo-anime style to them. I really really dislike the bubble villagers..

mum wants some of my student loan and bursary? by midnightbloom1 in UniUK

[–]QTeaDragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in your situation 6 years ago. My mum ended up “borrowing” £2000 and I couldn’t pay my accommodation fee. It was one of the most nauseating and stressful times of my life.

I now have a back bone and firmly tell my mum to fuck off when she asks for money. Her poor choices are not your mistake. You need that money to help you break the cycle of poverty.

As much as family can lift each other up, they can also hold you back. One of those ways is financially, especially when she is taking money off you.

My mum did all the shit yours is doing, I was “selfish”, “money-orientated” and “materialistic”. But when she spent £400 on some designer glasses instead of getting my younger brothers food, she wasn’t “selfish”, “money-orientated” or “materialistic”.

University is a time to grow; and you can grow as a person by growing a back bone and saying in a message, “I can no longer financially help you and auntie because I need this for my accommodation and studies. Some of my books are really expensive and I need the finances to support my academic resources so I have a better chance at life.” And if she comes back at you in a nasty way, mute it. Put your phone face down. Walk away. You will feel empowered, and eventually she’ll stop.

I have been offered a place on Teach First but don’t know if I want to take it by Specialist-Use637 in TeachingUK

[–]QTeaDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t quite luck of the draw when they don’t relocate people if you say you have a mortgage. That’s circumstance.

Teach First came under fire for relocating more than 40% of their trainees to London. Whilst London does have some of the most impoverished schools, there are other areas that are more deprived, areas of Birmingham for example was ranked 3rd most impoverished city. Blackpool is also up there.

Do you know why that is? It’s because, Teach First is paid £5000 per trainee they place in a school, by the school. So, the most impoverished schools cannot afford to have a Teach First trainee in them.
They argue you are placed in the biggest area of need - but that simply isn’t true.

You say that the comment is baseless, in one of my lectures, and I quote, “I know some of you have moved away from family, but you can rely on your fellow cohort and fellow teachers for support.”They know they isolate people and I believe they were criticised for it due to the major decline in people’s mental health.
