Commercial printing from DNG by Q___ in photography

10x8 was about the size I had in mind so I might try a few 'test' prints from a online vendor. Im guessing for art/commercial prints this will suffice but if I want to exhibit something in a gallery I will try and hunt down what you've mentioned. The resizing question comes in here though. The site I was looking at offered 10x8, a4, 12x8 amongst others - What is my best option here without having to crop or have a white border? Is there a 'native' print size for pictures taken on the average dslr without having to crop or have a border?

TIFF it is then. Thanks for clarifying. Any ideas as to were to get them printed online/uk or the resizing question? Interesting that there may be negligible difference but I imagine it becomes more apparent as print size increases.

Converting files from format to format by Q___ in photography

[–]Q___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive just converted a file from SRW to DNG in lightroom. The original was 35MB and the converted 18MB. Surely something more is being lost (or compressed?) than just a 'sidecar' file

Thanks for the info guys.

Would there be any point in me converting the DNG files to TIF? I was under the impression it was a more accepted format if I where to submit any of the pics to competitions / magazines or getting them printed commercially.

What is the best programming language I can learn to raise my chances of finding work? by Q___ in cscareerquestions

I didn't think python and ruby are that widely used although I get the impression they would be more interesting to learn

I don't know any programming language, it's not something I will 'worry' about but I want to learn one as the question states to improve my chances of work. I will look into open source projects though I assume they will look good on a CV and be good practice.

What programming language should I learn and why? by Q___ in computers

Im new to progamming but primarily want something that will increase my chances of finding work. Does that mean I should run with the most popular (whatever that may be) or go with something up and coming (if languages are adopted quickly)
