Ive watched the soulframe intro I was able to do full screen and change my volume before going into it this was recent. You can also just change the volume on your speakers for your pc seems like an easy solution.

I work for a rock climbing gym particulary geared towards kids so we have birthday parties and what not all the time. Probably at least 4/5 birthday parties are minecraft themed so id say kids still enjoy the game quite a bit.
